It’s College Football Saturday and we’re enjoying a relaxing day of football watching (much needed after our horrible week with Baby Brother in the hospital)!! Our Huskers just beat Illinois in decisive fashion–just the way we like it here! Woot! So, it’s no secret that we’re HUGE college football fans and love some fun football/tailgating foods! Food “on a stick” screams tailgating food to me, so these “Apple Snickers Dippers” are the perfect #gamedaybites for a sweet tailgating dessert!
One of our favorite desserts this time of year is Apple Snickers “salad”, but it’s not exactly perfect for tailgating. You need spoons and bowls or cups, etc. So, I did a tailgating twist on that yummy dessert – apple snickers bites, perfect for dipping and eating on the go. YUM!
These little dessert bites are not only super tasty, but SO easy to make! You can whip these up for your tailgate or football party in no time! Here’s what you’ll need (to make about 30 dessert bites):
- 1 apple, diced (we used Honeycrisp, but Granny Smith would be great too)
- 1 7oz bag Snickers unwrapped bites (or Milky Way)
- 1 small box (4oz) vanilla instant pudding
- 1 container Cool Whip
- Melted caramels or caramel sauce
- toothpicks
Just dice up the apple in small bite-size pieces (to keep from browning, soak in lemon or apple juice). Then, on each toothpick, sandwich an unwrapped Snickers bite between two apple pieces. That’s it!
But, to give you all the flavors of the Apple Snickers Salad, you need a dip. These are Apple Snickers “dippers” after all! 😉 To make the dip, mix up the pudding (according to the package directions) and mix with Cool Whip. Top with some chopped up Snickers and caramel for garnish.
YUMMMMMM!!!!!
