We’re thrilled to share these adorable Abominable Movie Treats with you today as part of a sponsored partnership with Universal Pictures Home Entertainment. Seriously, isn’t Everest the cutest little yeti you’ve ever seen?! We just love him and are so excited that Abominable is now on Digital and available on Blu-ray/DVD December 17! From the studio that brought you How To Train Your Dragon (another big favorite at our house – in fact, you can snag some dragon candy bark here), DreamWorks Animation created an adorable story in Abominable.

About Abominable

When mischievous friends Yi (Chloe Bennet), Jin, and Peng discover a young yeti on their roof, they name him Everest and embark on a thrilling adventure to reunite the magical creature with his family. On the journey of their lifetimes, Everest helps Yi, Jin, and Peng unlock an inner bravery they didn’t know they had. And as they travel across China to return the magical creature to his home, Everest will help them discover where they truly belong, too.

It’s such a sweet story, with good reminders of the fact that a little positivity goes a long way! And seriously Everest is THE cutest thing. All of that helped make Abominable the #1 Original Animated Movie of the Year! So, I highly recommend planning to buy Abominable as holiday gifts this year! In addition to the movie, you’ll get over an hour of bonus content, plus 2 Original Shorts! This one is perfect for a family movie night!

Abominable Family Movie Night

If you’ve been a blog reader here for a while, then you know that we LOVE family movie nights! And when I can swing it, I love making them a little extra special by making themed treats and having a few fun things to go with it! For Abominable, I thought it would be perfect to cozy up with an adorable Everest plush, Abominable blanket, AND snack on some fun yeti treats, of course! Here’s a few fun finds to help you put together a fun-filled Abominable movie night:

In addition to those fun picks, there is this adorable Tea Collection x Abominable limited-edition clothing line! The brand partnered with the film to make some really cute designs. My boys love their shirts! This would be another great gift idea you include for the holidays to have one epic family movie night. It would also be adorable for an Abominable themed birthday party!

Abominable Movie Treats

The Everest treats were also a HUGE hit with the kids, so that’s what I’m showing you how to make today! They are almost too cute to eat. *Almost*. 😉 Like so many of my movie night treats, these edible Everests are actually just krispie treats! I love using krispie treats to make fun treats like this because they are SO easy to shape and decorate into just about anything you want – like an adorable, friendly yeti! So cute! Here’s the directions on how to make these fun Abominable treats:

Everest Yeti Krispie Treats

To make these adorable Everest treats, you’ll start by making a normal batch of krispie treats. Once those have cooled you’ll be able to cut out your shapes and get started turning them into yeti treats!

Everest treat supplies:

  • 1/4 C butter
  • 4 C  mini marshmallows
  • 6 C puffed rice cereal
  • white candy melts/bark
  • black or gray candy melts
  • large candy eyes
  • black decorating gel
  • mini marshmallows
  • shredded coconut
  • light blue food color marker
  • toothpicks

Once your krispie treats are cooled, you’ll want to cut out large round shapes for the treats. If you have a large round/oval cookie cutter, that would work. Otherwise, you can do a quick, hand-drawn template like I did. My shape measures right about 3.75 inches across and 4.5 inches tall. So, it’s just a very slight oval shape. These definitely make large treats, but the size felt necessary to make them look most like Everest. I was able to cut 5 shapes (with multiple scraps left over) out of one batch of krispie treats). Once cut, then you can start decorating. I started by making the gray candy melts (which you can do by melting gray candy melts or mixing black with white. If you’re mixing colors, you can add in a couple purple melts and/or brown or blue to get your desired shade of gray).

Once melted, you’ll start decorating the treats by adding a sort of gray football shape to the top half of the treat to make Everest’s gray face (I used a spoon to do this). Before the candy coating hardens, add the candy eyeballs onto the face. To make them look more like Everest, you can add a line of light blue to the candy eyes using a food writer marker. Then, you’ll want to cut the shapes for his teeth using mini marshmallows. Place them on his “face” just above the gray line, putting the cut sticky side down. Once you have the gray face, eyes, and teeth stuck on, let that harden. Once cooled, you’ll want to add the white. Do this by melting a package of white candy melts in a large dish. Dip the bottom, top, and edges of the treat (going right up to the gray section) in the melted white candy coating.

Use a spoon to help you do this as needed. Once the krispie treats are coated in the white candy melts, you’ll want to immediately stick the shredded coconut all over the candy coating.

Then, carefully use the black gel pen to draw on Everest’s mouth right under the marshmallow teeth. To make the final finishing touches, dip the end of a tooth pick in the black decorator frosting and touch between the eyes to make nostrils. Then dip the end of a different toothpick in the white candy coating to make the twinkle in his eyes. Those little details make a HUGE difference! Aren’t they so cute?! I just loved them…and so did the boys!!! They were THRILLED with such an adorable treat for a fun family movie night! So get ready to bring Abominable home now on Digital (on Blu-ray & DVD December 17th) and enjoy a family movie night, complete with these Everest treats!
