Today is Big Brother’s 1st day of first grade!! He seemed entirely too grown up this morning as we got ready and headed off to school. No different than when I first had to drop him off at daycare when he was a baby (I taught until he was 3), something about handing him off to a teacher makes the tears start to well up in my eyes. Gah! After getting through the first day of Kindergarten, I thought today might be a piece of cake. And, while it was easier, it still seemed like such a big deal…especially since 1st grade is his first time being gone all day! So, we’re still doing a lot of firsts, like the first time doing lunch at school! His request for his first day was a Star Wars lunch (to go with his Star Wars backpack, lunchbox, and thermos) and I was happy to oblige! The lunch itself was pretty easy to make. I packed the whole thing in our favorite easy lunchbox/Bento system (you can purchase with my affiliate link here: EasyLunchboxes 3-compartment Bento Lunch Box Containers “CLASSIC” (Set of 4). BPA-Free.) I used the Star Wars Cookie Cutter Set from Williams Sonoma on whole wheat bread (you can purchase with my affiliate link here: Star Wars Cookie Cutter Set: Yoda, Vader, Boba Fett & Stormtrooper). But, instead of making little sandwiches, I decided to make little ham & cheese stars (just using a small star cookie cutter) on the side. Then, with Darth Vader and the Death Star, I though black olives would be a nice addition. Add in some vegetable sabers, dip, and cheetos, and well, we had on very excited boy!
I couldn’t stop there though. This little Jedi needed some fun Star Wars lunch box notes for this lunch (and some of the many to come). So, I made a set of Star Wars notes to add to his lunches. I laminated them (using my new Fellowe’s laminator) so we can reuse them throughout the school year!
Aren’t they fun?! I’m hoping he’ll really want to know what his notes say, so it will be something to get hm excited about reading! 😉 Do you have a young Padawan who needs some Star Wars lunch notes too? You can download for own blank copy for free below!
*Due to possible copyright issues, the downloadable file does not have the three characters. So, you can download the blank note page (a Word file) & add in your own character clip art easily on your own. The images are found on iconbug and are free for personal use. If that’s too much work, you could always just add a Star Wars sticker, drawing, etc. in the blank portion of the notes.
So, feel free to click on the image below to download your own character-free copy! (Just for personal use only). Please comment or email if you run into any issues with downloading or the file isn’t printing well!
