Nebraska Game Day Hail Mary Miracle {College Football Tailgate Link Party}

We’re sneaking in with another Friday College Football Tailgate post after missing a week with all the excitement of Halloween. We were in back in Nebraska last week and attended the Nebraska v. Northwestern game that ended with a Hail Mary miracle.  We attended the Nebraska vs. Northwestern game two years ago and sadly lost. This game was looking not much different actually. We had great seats and great weather. We had mounted a 14-point comeback. The game was tied and then we threw an interception with only like 2 minutes left. Ugh! There was little hope. Down 3 with little time left on the clock. We had a miracle play for a first down…and then 4 seconds left. How often does The Hail Mary really work anyway? Not often. But our senior back-up quarterback (who has rarely seen any playing time) heaved it up toward our endzone. It was so close to us that I couldn’t see what happened…and then….The.crowd.went.wild!!! Absolute pandemonium. As a member of the Cornhusker Marching Band, I attended every home game for 4 years during college, multiple ESPN College Game Day games, a conference championship game, the Fiesta Bowl, and the National Championship Rose Bowl. So, suffice it to say, I’ve been to some really fun football games! However, I’ve NEVER experienced anything like this. Ever. This was electric. Hindsight being what it is, I SO wish I would have recorded it. The radio call is awesome. And there are some great YouTube videos of it. It was a amazing – the stuff of legend. A backup quarterback and a freshman receiver who Husker fans will never forget. Amazing! We’re so glad that we were able to be there to experience it in person. It certainly was the most fun “date night” Mr. Mom Endeavors and I have had in quite sometime!
