One of the many fantastic things about our trip to California was all the playtime at the beach! We wanted to soak up all the surf, sand, those awesome ocean sounds…but, NOT too much sun!Our little guys have SUPER white skin and I wanted to keep it that way! I have first-hand experience at getting badly sunburned from days on the beach and I absolutely did not want that to happen to the boys! So, we not only donned some hats and UV protective swim clothes, but also made sure that we had plenty of sunscreen.
We used the new Neutrogena Wet Skin Sunblock Spray. I love that it has an spf of 70+! And the ability to apply to wet skin seemed especially appealing for the beach! Here’s the product information from Neutrogena’s website: Wet Skin Kids Sunblock Spray SPF 70+ with Helioplex® is specially formulated to work with wet skin. It instantly cuts through water, creating a broad spectrum protective barrier with every application. When applied to wet skin, ordinary sunblock can whiten and slide off. Neutrogena® Wet Skin Kids promises full strength sun protection even when applied on wet skin. This product features Helioplex®, a breadth of stabilized sunscreen technologies that delivers superior protection from the sun. To learn more about Helioplex® Technology, click here.

Sounds great, right? But, the question is, does it actually work? After our trip to Walmart to buy it (you can see our shopping experience on Intersect here), we made sure to test it right out!
We played and played and played on the beach. In fact, we went just about everyday we were there, making sure to apply sunscreen each time!
We played in the sand…
We played in the water…
We reapplied wet skin sun screen (which did go right on their wet, sandy skin leaving no weird milky white residue that other sunscreens normally do)…
…and then we played some more!We even made some great biological discoveries, which you know this biology nerd family loved! Living on a HUGE piece of giant kelp that washed up, we found a whole bunch of spiny brittle stars and sea anemones! SO cool!!
So, after all that beach playtime, what’s the verdict on the new sunscreen?…
Neutrogena Wet Skin Sunblock Spray definitely worked well! See…no redness on my little pale one at all!As far as I’m concerned, the only downside is that it only comes in spray form. I really don’t like breathing in the sunscreen mist (and especially don’t like the kids to breathe it in), so it’d be really nice to see the product in some of the other forms (sticks or lotion). But, I did really like the high spf value and the ability to apply to wet skin! Two very important things when applying sunscreen to kids. So, I would still definitely use it again. And, right now, Neutrogena is offering a $2 coupon for Wet Skin. Get it here!
