A trip to Destin, Florida is a great option for a vacation getaway! A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of heading to Destin for this first time and loved it! It was actually my first time on the Gulf Coast and I can’t wait to get back! Just look at that sunset! So nice! With the beach right there, if you’re planning a retreat, a getaway with friends, or a family reunion, I highly recommend renting a house for your stay! We stayed at the beautiful Blue Heaven House thanks to Newman Daily Resort Properties and it was…heavenly! What’s great about renting a house is that people can have their own space with the bedrooms when they need it. But, you’ve got great shared spaces to talk, collaborate, and spend time together! You can snack whenever you want, have meals together, enjoy time outside! It’s awesome! And this Blue Heaven house was perfect for a large group with 7 bedrooms and 6.5 baths!
I was there for a masterminds blogger retreat of sorts with 9 other ladies. Some of us had never even met in person, yet the weekend was one of the most fabulous I’ve ever had! Here’s the group of amazing women…
Me * Jodi * Amy * Amy * Jessica * Tammilee * Danielle * Corinne * Jo-Lynne * Maria
We spent hours & hours in the living room and kitchen areas – talking, brainstorming, sharing tips & ideas, and cheering each other on. We had these mini-mastermind sessions each day and having a house was so nice! This was the perfect comfortable setting to really relax, talk, and let the creative juices flow! I highly recommend you do this with your own tribe of friends/colleagues! You can see we even took some work down to the beach! The beautiful Emerald Coast beach was just a quick 5-minute walk away from our house! So nice! So we made sure to get down to the water! The sand was incredibly white and such a different texture than I’m used to – almost like sugar. It even made a funny squeaking sound when you stepped on it just right. And, I loved the wildlife – so many fun birds and sand dollars! The kids would have LOVED the beach here- definitely a good family destination! We did make time to explore some of the rest of the Destin area too and it’s great! Just down the street from our house are the Silver Sands Premium Outlets. They have SO many awesome stores! So, perfect for some shopping! We also spent one evening on the Destin Harbor Boardwalk and I LOVED it here! Wish we would have had even more time to explore! But we did make time for a beautiful stroll, some sunset photography and a delicious dinner! Isn’t it beautiful?!?! My boys would have LOVED all the pelicans! So much fun!! Our dinner was at a newer restaurant there in the harbor called Brotula’s. And I HIGHLY recommend them! I had shrimp & grits for the very first time and it was INCREDIBLE! One of my favorite restaurant meals ever! And, they have such a neat thing where you can learn about your seafood, seeing where it was caught! There is a fish finder tags on some of the meals, where you can scan a QR Code or go to a website to see the captain that caught the fish, plus when and where it was caught! So, if you’re looking for a great dinner in the harbor, we loved it here! Sigh. I want to go back.
Everything about this trip was just so lovely and wonderful – the house, the food, the destination, and the company! It was a much needed trip for me and I left feeling inspired. I highly recommend that you plan a retreat like this with your own tribe – a place to collaborate, discuss, brainstorm, teach, inspire, relax, and renew! It’s SUCH a beautiful thing!
And…if you need a place to do that – whether with your colleagues and friends like this or with your family – I think Destin is great! I loved the vibe there and all the fun things to do. Plus, there’s a beach for the win! If you’re interested in a Destin Vacation Home Rental for your time there, be sure to check out Newman Daily. They have many different houses and properties that are perfect for a getaway!
Have YOU been to Destin?
It was a great weekend! These are some awesome photos. Makes me want to go back- especially when it is cold and dreary here.
