New Pixar Pier Open!

Pixar Pier just opened at Disneyland Resort’s California Adventure (June 23, 2018) and it’s full of awesome fun! We had the pleasure of getting to attend the media preview just a couple of days before the opening (thank you, Disney)! Our family had SO much fun, spending a very full afternoon and evening exploring all the new fun details. For those feeling out of the loop, the original Paradise Pier closed early 2018 to undergo its transformation into #PixarPier. The change brings a fresh look, all kinds of Pixar details, an incredible re-imagined roller coaster, and some delicious new themed foods…and there is more still to come!

I’ve been sharing some on my social media channels (you can find some full length videos on my new IGTV channel on Instagram), but there is SO much more to go over! We’re starting by giving you some details on our favorite Pixar Pier food finds!

Best Pixar Pier Food Finds!

Adorable Snowman TreatsAdorable Snowman Frozen Treats

Just past Knick’s Knacks (the fun Pixar themed merchandise store on the pier), you’ll come upon The Adorable Snowman Frosted Treats stand – I LOVE it!!! Featuring the adorable Abominable Snowman from Disney-Pixar’s “Monsters, Inc.”, the location serves cones and cups with tasty towering soft serve, available in chocolate, vanilla, and non-dairy lemon. If you love lemon flavors, you’ll LOVE this stand! The “It’s Lemon” is SOOOO good (think like a lemon Dole Whip). You also have he option to turn any soda into a float with any flavor of soft serve here – super fun! Lemon Whip at DisneylandThe Adorable Snowman also serves up a few specialty treats, such as the It’s Snow-Capped Lemon (the non-dairy lemon soft serve with a “snow-cap” of white chocolate) and the Pixar Pier Frozen Parfait (layers of the non-dairy lemon soft serve and blue raspberry frozen slush). Our family’s favorite was the Pixar Pier Parfait – so good in fact that we got two while we were there! It’s especially perfect on a warm Southern California day!

Jack-Jack Cookie Num Nums

After continuing down the pier from the Adorable Snowman, you’ll hit the “The Incredibles” themed area, anchored by the awesomely fun Incredicoaster (more on that in another post, but suffice it to say that we LOVED the updates and new theming)! At the exit of the ride, you’ll find Jack-Jack Cookie Num Nums stand…and does it ever smell good! Jack-Jack Cookie Num Nums StandOf course, the main feature here (which is definitely worth a try) is Jack-Jack Cookie Num Nums, a.k.a. chocolate chip cookies featured in the recently released “Incredibles 2”. They’re served perfectly warm and gooey, plus they’re big enough to share! This one is our family’s favorite treat here! Num Num CookieSOOOO good! An honorable mention goes to the other cookie options there though as well. I LOVE that there is The IncrediCookie available for all my gluten-free friends and the Jack-Jack Shortbread Cookie was a big hit with the kids!Jack Jack Incredibles Shortbread CookieDoesn’t it look fun? To wash down your treat, you can even buy assorted milks (regular, flavored, and dairy-free) here! Perfect! Jack Jack Cookies

Poultry Palace

From the short “Toy Story Toon: Small Fry,” you’ll find Poultry Palace in the Toy Story neighborhood of the pier (just across from Toy Story Midway Mania ride exit/store). Here you can grab chicken drumsticks and coleslaw, jumbo smoked turkey legs and corn on the cob! Poultry PalaceThe drumsticks box was perfect for our boys to share!  The box comes with 3 seasoned drumsticks and lightly dressed coleslaw. The seasoning on the drumsticks does have a bit of a kick (think a Cajun flare), so just be aware of that. It’s not terribly spicy, but we did remove some of the seasoning for the younger kids. We also ordered the corn on the cob! Both my husband and Little Brother (our resident corn fanatic) thought is was DELICIOUS! So that was a big win for them! Poultry Palace MealAfter those savory choices, then head next door and get a sweet try from Señor Buzz!

Señor Buzz Churros

“Hay un amigo en mí”. How fun is this Señor Buzz Churros stand and these adorable cast members?! Señor Buzz ChurrosI love this! It may be the cutest churro stand ever and you’ll find it appropriately located right across from Toy Story Midway mania. Here you can choose between the Señor Buzz Caliente Churro or the Cinnamon Sugar Galaxy Churro. It you want to try a different churro, I REALLY recommend the Caliente Churro – especially if  you like cinnamon candy. It has a definite cinnamon “Red Hots” candy flavor to it  – not too spicy, but something fun & different. Buzz ChurrosBoth Mr. Mom Endeavors and I were really pleasantly surprised. The Cinnamon Sugar Galaxy Churro was basically a regular churro flavor with just a little extra sugar sparkle sprinkles! So if you want something new, definitely try the “caliente”. Either way, happy churro eating!

Angry Dogs

As you continue down the pier area and near the newly-named “Pixar Pal-Around” (aka the Mickey wheel), you’ll run in Angry Dogs which is definitely the cutest hot dog stand I’ve seen! LOVE the sign!

Angry Dogs DisneylandInside Out is one of my favorites! We’ve done an Inside Out Movie Night Party and made some fun Fire-Roasted Anger Stuffed Peppers, so I’m fully on board with themed food! And the theming here is great! You can order Angry Dogs (spicy all beef hot dog) served with flamin’ hot fries or the “Slightly Annoyed” Dog (just a basic hot dog, but the name cracked me up)!Angry Dogs SpicyI’m not a huge fan of spicy, so we opted for the “slightly annoyed” version! But I’ve heard it’s good! There’s also a range of condiments (with fun names) like “agitated” brown mustard, “raging” buffalo hot sauce, “keeping it together” ketchup, etc. So you can dress up your dogs to fit you level of “anger”! 😉 Love it!
Angry Dog Hot DogThat brings us to the end of the quick service food stops for now. But, later this year, look out for Bing Bong’s Sweet Shop for all kinds of fun sweet treats, candies, beverages, and more! I cannot wait to get back once this opens to check it out! I have a feeling the theming is going to be just super fantastic. The description states that “guests will find a fully sculpted Bing Bong sitting in his makeshift rocket wagon crying tears of candy. To his right is Jangles the Clown, offering guests a cooling frozen beverage; and across the shop, Rainbow Unicorn runs the most colorful and cheerful candy corner”. SO fun! Bing Bong's Sweet ShopFor those looking for a sit-down meal on the pier, you will have to check out the new Lamplight Lounge! Replacing Cove Bar and Ariel’s Grotto, I have a feeling this is going to be one VERY popular spot.

Lamplight Lounge

Lamplight Lounge is the perfect blend of style and fun with a selection of great gastro-pub type food items. The theming and ambience make it fun enough for the whole family and yet stylish enough for a fun adults-only date spot! Lamplight Lounge DisneylandThis is one of those places that you’ll discover new details every time you go – there is just SO much fun stuff and details inside. You really get the sense that the décor celebrates the creativity, inspirations and personalities of the artists and storytellers who have brought Pixar films to life. There’s concept art, adorable “quick sketch” coasters, memorabilia and collectible toys of beloved Pixar characters, and some incredible tile work! Just check out this one spot on the floor…Pixar Lamp & Ball Lamplight LoungeSo fun! I had the pleasure of dining here with a number of other bloggers and it was a blast! The drink menu alone is super fun -with all kinds of themed drinks (both with alcohol and without)! We all ordered different food too, so we ended up getting to sample quite a bit of the menu! Lamplight Lounge MenuI liked everything I tried, but I’ve picked my 5 winners! For a kid-friendly, non-alcoholic drink, you HAVE to try the Infinity Fizz. It comes smoking and bubbling thanks to a special dry ice compartment, complete with bouncing cherry pearls! SO fun! Infinity Fizz Lamplight Lounge

For food, my picks are:

  1. Lobster Nachos
  2. Carne Asada Roll
  3. Salmon PLT
  4. Donuts

Yes – the Lobster Nachos are still here (the only carry over from Cove Bar)! So good! BUT…the Carne Asada Roll is REALLY good too! I LOVED it! For a more main dish, the Salmon PLT is delish! So SO good if you like seafood. And for dessert? You have to get the donuts! You can even take them to go – perfect for a tasty parade-watching snack in the evening! YUMMmmmmm! Best Lamplight Lounge FoodSeriously SO good! I can’t wait to head back!

So, there is definitely plenty of delicious food for you to try on your next trip to the pier! And don’t forget that Pixar Fest is going on at the Disneyland Resort through September 3, 2018!  With that, you’ll find even more fun, Pixar-themed food to enjoy throughout the resort as well! YUMMMM!
