We love Disney movies and themed movie nights/parties! So, with the release of Inside Out this past week on Blu-Ray/DVD, I was thrilled to put together some party ideas full of our favorite Emotions as part of a campaign that has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #InsideOutEmotions #CollectiveBias
We absolutely LOVED Disney-Pixar’s Inside Out (<–you can click there for our full movie review)! After getting an early sneak peek during interviews at Pixar Studios with producer/directors Pete Docter and Jonas Rivera, I’m a little extra fond of this show! And, I “lava” the short-film, LAVA (which is also on the DVD). So, as soon as Inside Out hit stores, I headed to Walmart to pick up a copy of the movie and some supplies for a family movie night party (including a few fun Inside Out toys that really added to the whole party)!!!
How cute are those little Emotions figurines?! We LOVE them at our house! The perfect addition to an Inside Out party! They work great as decor, you cold use them as cake toppers, and you could even use them in some role play activities to help get kids talking about emotions!
What I love about the Inside Out theme is that you can throw a really great-looking party pretty easily with the right decor & food! With the colors of the Emotions, the memory balls, and Riley’s mind in the movie, bright rainbow colors (in red, yellow, green, blue, and purple) are perfect for this theme! The backdrop is just 5 plastic table covers (1 in each color) which totals about $5. Then for the tablecloth and tableware items (plates, napkins, etc), I found that perfect confetti/circle print (all in the Walmart party section). You can see that in addition to some cute toys and simple rainbow party decor, fun themed foods were the focus of our party table! It’s my favorite thing to do for a party!
Inside Out Party Food
We had the simple themed candy bar shown above (because after all, ever movie party needs candy, right?! 🙂 ). And just like at the theaters, popcorn is a must as well! So, we came up with a simple & fun memory munch! The kids loved this – a truly JOYful treat! 😉 The highlight though was actually a favorite from the movie – Broccoli Pizza! It’s a memorable scene in the movie, so it works perfectly for an Inside Out party! Just pick your favorite cheese pizza and add some broccoli to the top (doesn’t get easier than that). For some extra green fun, use a white spinach pizza and add the broccoli to that! What’s extra fun about this is that since it was “from the movie”, my kids actually tried it!
You can go wrong with cupcakes for a movie party either! I always prefer homemade when I can. But for ease & quick convenience, here’s a party tip – ask the bakery for just plain frosted cupcakes. My local Walmart bakery did this while I shopped (I asked for a dozen cupcakes with at least two of each in colors yellow, green, blue, red, and purple). I actually already had the rings from something else, but you could always use cupcake toppers instead. SO easy and looks perfet on the party table!
Inside Out Party Activities
Obviously, watching the DVD is appropriate for a movie night party! But, some other simple activities are always great too! I LOVE all the free printable options out there! How cute is this board game?! You can print it out and play as part of your movie party.

The kids can also play with the toys and color while watching the movie! We LOVE coloring here and the boys also love acting things out with figurines. Just print out some coloring pages & put them out with the toys on a table! Super simple (yet effective) party activity!

Family movie nights and special parties don’t have to be crazy or super involved! With just a little bit of extra work, you can create a super memorable night for your kids – perfect for strengthening “Family Island”!!!
