We have some little (and big) Star Wars fans that are beyond exciting for The Force Awakens opening in theaters on December 18th. So, we decided to have a little fun by putting on a Star Wars: The Force Awakens party! To make the party extra great, we teamed up with some of our local creative blogging friends and each contributed fun ideas! So, whether you’re doing a Force Awakens kids’ birthday party or just want a few fun ideas to do something fun for the movie opening, you’re sure to find something cute here! We’ve got you covered with fun Star Wars treat ideas, Star Wars Force Awakens printables, awesomely simple costumes and even some fun DIY ship ideas!!
Star Wars: The Force Awakens Movie Ticket Invitation
To really set the movie party tone, we had movie ticket-style invitations! They’re so simple, yet so cute! Even if you’re not throwing a Force Awakens party soon, these would be GREAT to print to surprise the kids with tickets to the movie! They’re so much cuter than normal movie tickets! Love it! You can download the invitation/movie ticket in the FREE printable party package here!
Star Wars: The Force Awakens Treats
One of my very favorite things about any party is doing themed foods! Since this was a movie party, we went with a concession stand feel to our “galaxy goodies” food set up. Our concession stand had normal movie theater treats like candy & popcorn…and then some super awesome cookies!
The little side table may be my favorite! Those BB-8 sippers are from Disneyland for Season of the Force, but you can find the other cute Star Wars sippers at many local retailers (I’ve seen them at Walmart, Target, and some local grocery stores). The Star Wars Force Awakens popcorn boxes and cute character straw decorations are all part of the FREE printable party package (<–click to view & download).
The BIG hit at that table though was the amazing Star Wars: The Force Awakens cookies made by The Baked Equation. Aren’t those amazing?!?! She’s local to us and does the most amazing custom cookie designs! She can whip up just about anything you’d like AND ships ALL over the country! So, if you want something special for your party, be sure to order some cookies form The Baked Equation!
The other fun parts of the concession stand set-up was the candy bar and the popcorn bar. I was in charge of the candy – so you can head over to our candy bar post to get all the details, plus the free printable candy jar labels –> Star Wars Candy Bar with Free Printables. I LOVE the simplicity of the DIY Star Garland (by Just Destiny Mag) for some party decor as well! It looked great at the concession stand!
And how about this awesome themed popcorn?! As the movie suggests with, “the dark side and the light”, red & blue colors work VERY well for a Force Awakens party! So, we have that represented in the flavored popcorn bar. Head over to See Vanessa Craft to get all the details and the full recipe for Chewbacca’s delicious Chewie Caramel Corn (it really is SO good)!
Star Wars: The Force Awakens Movie Party
Whether you have nice outdoor weather like we do (and can set up a screen for an outdoor movie watch party) or you watch indoors in front of the tv, these fun watch party ideas will certainly work – Starting with these AMAZING ships…Seriously?!?! How cool are these?! What kids wouldn’t love to watch a movie on Rey’s Speeder or the famous Millennium Falcon?! You can get all the directions for building your own awesome DIY Star Wars Cardboard Ships here!
So have the kids grab their concessions and then get ready for some fun movie-watching! You can even set them up with little boxes for their popcorn, treats, and cups – just like at the movie theater! The kids thought this was SO cool! But cool ship replicas are even better when you look the part. So, we did simple costumes for the kids! These no-sew Jedi tunics are SO easy to make!
Or you could always encourage the kids to come dressed up as their favorite Force Awakens character! We’ve already got some Kylo Ren and BB-8 fans around our house! Making your own BB-8 costume is actually really easy –> DIY BB-8 costume tutorial.
Then of course, ever young Padawan needs a training lightsaber! Kim from A Night Owl Blog made the most adorable & clever DIY lightsaber party favors to go with their costumes!
So much fun! The kids had a blast playing and wielding their lightsabers. There’s something about just the simple act of dressing up that helps get everyone’s imagination going!
Then, you can really get into character with some fun printable Force Awakens character masks!! In the FREE printable party package (<–click to view & download), there are masks for the First Order Stormtroopers, Chewbacca, and C3Po. Plus, you’ll find adorable BB-8 and R2D2 crowns!
Even if you’re not having a whole party yet, I bet kids would LOVE having one of the masks or crowns to wear when they go see the movie! SO super cute!!
We had SO much fun putting this Star Wars: The Force Awakens Kids Movie Party together and hope it sparks some fun ideas for you – whether for your upcoming trip to the movies, a family movie night at home, or an awesome birthday party! Be sure to pin this party for later!
