If you’re looking for some great food bloggers to follow or awesome places to stay & eat in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area, this is the post for you! Earlier this month, I had the pleasure of attending the TSRI Sizzling Summer Retreat with a small handful of other food & lifestyle bloggers hosted by the FireSky Resort and Spa in Scottsdale.
Doesn’t the resort look beautiful?! It was like a little oasis just barely up the road from Scottsdale Fashion Square. I’ve never stayed at FireSky Resort (or any Kimpton property) before, but I LOVED it! It looked great for families too – with a whole fun beach-like pool, complete with sand for the kids! The boys would love it here! And, adults will love the ambiance, the restaurants, and the spa! We were treated to a 30 minute massage at Jurlique spa on property there. Heavenly! And, the food at the resort was delicious!! We ate two meals at Taggia, an Italian restaurant at the restaurant. Chef Massimo De Francesca prepared an amazing dinner, complete with a whole bunch of courses. The pasta dish was out of this world! There is a reason that Ashlee from I’m Topsy Turvy is smelling her bowl! 😉 YUM!!! All of this awesomeness was organized by Donna & Chad of The Slow Roasted Italian. If you’ve never stopped by their blog, you need to! Soooo many delicious recipes! So, they of course planned all of these awesome culinary experiences! The fun was kicked off with a special wine tasting hosted by Entwine Wines (the official Food Network Wine!). Their wines have suggested food pairings right on the bottles which is SO helpful for people like me! If you’re in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area, another place you MUST check out is Rusconi’s American Kitchen. We ventured out from the resort (using the awesome car service called Uber. If you haven’t tried it out, I encourage you to do so – especially in a group. SO convenient and MUCH better than a cab) and I’m so glad that we did! Some of the food at Rusconi’s is seriously THE best I’ve ever had. The vanilla-scented potatoes were delicious (for an inspired recipe be sure to head over to Diethood). But, then the truffle mac & cheese came out. Oh my goodness, all! Seriously insanely good! And, to end the night the chef put together a custom dessert made with Brownie Brittle. YUM! I love supporting small local businesses, so I definitely encourage you to stop by Rusconi’s if you’re in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area! Doesn’t that all look delicious?! I wish the computer was “smell-o-vision” because seriously, all…SO good!!! As amazing as all the food was though, my favorite part of the weekend was getting the opportunity to visit with a GREAT group of bloggers. To be able to collaborate, talk, share tips & ideas, etc in a small group setting with others is truly invaluable! Ashlee and I stayed up talking until at least 3am both nights! 😉 I met knew people and was able to spend more time with others that I had met before. If you don’t know any of them, be sure to go check out all their sites – so many great ladies & delicious recipes… Christie from Love from the Oven, Mary from Barefeet In The Kitchen, Ashlee from I’m Topsy Turvy, Kristen from Six Sisters Stuff, Erica from Favorite Family Recipes, Tessa from Handle the Heat, Alejandra from Always Order Dessert, Anetta from The Wanderlust Kitchen, and Katerina from Diethood. There of course were some fabulous products too! If you’re looking for some kitchen gadgets to give as gifts, you cannot go wrong with these handy items…
- nesting liquid measuring cups from OXO,
- better zester from KitchenIQ
- silicone cutting boards from Casabella
- super handy spatula spoon from Le Creuset,
- a powdered sugar dusting wand from OXO (<– I especially LOVE this one. So cute!)
There were also delicious treats from Fairytale Brownies (a local company that I love), Pasta Chips, and beautiful custom cookies from The Baked Equation (she’s local here in Phoenix and CRAZY talented. If you’re local, contact Melissa for your next party)!
SUCH a great time!
