Arrrr, mateys! I’m so excited to share all the fun from the US Premiere of Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales in Hollywood! At the invite of Disney, I had the pleasure of walking the sea blue carpet, attending the swashbuckling pirate-themed pre-party, and seeing the premiere of the movie in the Dolby Theater (where the Oscars take place!!!) surrounded by cast, crew, Disney execs & employees, their family & friends, numerous celebrities, and the other 24 awesome bloggers on our #PiratesLifeEvent press trip!  We arrived on Hollywood Boulevard to a sea of pirate excitement, theme song music playing, fog, and a large rock scene that looked just like the Devil’s Triad in the movie! The blue carpet was lined with numerous fans and PIRATES! There was quite a crew in attendance complete with scallywags, wenches, and entertainers at every turn! It was such a great atmosphere. Then, at the end of the carpet was a super fun photo opp with the large Pirate skull – and one of the stilt walker pirates joined in our photo fun (fun fact – that same stilt walker ended up riding in the elevator with us later in the night and it was the funniest thing ever)! For my “red carpet” outfit, I went with a pirate-inspired look. I found that flowy black blouse, pairing it with a black belt, black skirt and black boots. To complete the look I did ringlet curls in my hair and accessorized with  hoop earrings and the large jewel necklace. Fun! Once we finished walking the carpet & taking fun photos there, we headed into the Dolby Theater lobby where all the pirate pre-party fun took place! And WOW – what a theater this is! You guys, this is where the Oscars take place and after being there, it’s easy to see why! The lobby alone was incredible – with 4 levels and plenty of room for mingling, drinks, food, entertainment stations, etc. So cool! There was fun on every level, at every turn. Special pirate punch drinks, pirate tattoo painting stations, makeup touchup stations, special photo opps, various appetizers, skulls & jewels on the tables – it was quite the scene! We spent about an hour wandering through each level, enjoying some treats, and looking out for celebrities. While we were inside having fun, the main cast was arriving on the carpet, signing autographs, and giving interviews! The originals (Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom, & Geoffrey Rush) were all there, in addition to the newcomers to the franchise – Javier Bardem,  Kaya Scodelario, and Brenton Thwaites.

We spotted quite a few celebrities inside though, including Alison Sweeney, Terry Crews, Professional basketball player DeAndre Jordan, Jamie Camil, Jon Voight, and Martin Klebba (from the Pirates movies)! Martin (aka “thestuntrunt”) actually randomly commented on one of my Instagram photos during our trip so I had to get a photo with him! And well, when Jon Voight is standing like 2 feet behind you – you have to document that as well! After about an hour to enjoy the party, it was time to head into the theater for the movie! And WOW – what an incredible theater it is!!! It was SO cool that we were able to take photos! We got to sit in the 3rd row!!

Sitting in the 3rd row gave us a great view of the stage, which was awesome because they had the whole main cast come out!!! Ahhhhhh!!!! It was so fun and the crowd went nuts!

Then the movie began! And it was 2.5 hours of swashbuckling pirate fun! Here’s the overall plot line:

Johnny Depp returns to the big screen as the iconic, swashbuckling anti-hero Jack Sparrow in the all-new “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.” The rip-roaring adventure finds down-on-his-luck Captain Jack feeling the winds of ill-fortune blowing strongly his way when deadly ghost sailors, led by the terrifying Captain Salazar (Javier Bardem), escape from the Devil’s Triangle bent on killing every pirate at sea—notably Jack.

Jack’s only hope of survival lies in the legendary Trident of Poseidon, but to find it he must forge an uneasy alliance with Carina Smyth (Kaya Scodelario), a brilliant and beautiful astronomer, and Henry (Brenton Thwaites), a headstrong young sailor in the Royal Navy. At the helm of the Dying Gull, his pitifully small and shabby ship, Captain Jack seeks not only to reverse his recent spate of ill fortune, but to save his very life from the most formidable and malicious foe he has ever faced.

The movie was an incredible spectacle from beginning to end – the visual effects are INCREDIBLE! From Salazar’s hair & ashy body, to the other ghosts, to the ships & explosions, it has great visuals. It’s everything you want in a summer blockbuster! Fans are going to love to the heart and overall feel that is most reminiscent of the 1st film (and my favorite) in the franchise. The old familiar faces are there, but the new characters are a great addition to the franchise! And without giving away any spoilers, the storyline(s) of these newcomers are interesting enough that we’d LOVE to see another movie delving into all of that more. In fact, we asked cast members/filmmakers about just that (stay tuned for interviews) and they all have interest too! So, this might NOT be that last adventure for Captain Jack and the rest of the pirates crew after all! You’re going to want to make plans to see this on opening weekend (May 26th)! AND….even though I almost NEVER recommend it, this is one that I think you NEED to see in 3D! The visuals seriously are just phenomenal! Also…be SURE to stay through the credits for a little bonus scene!!

“Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” opens in theaters nationwide on May 26, 2017!
