With the holiday season upon us, there will soon be lots of cooking & baking to do. That means it’s a great time to think about getting your kitchen organized! So, that’s exactly what one of the Lowe’s Creative Ideas blogger challenge options focused on this month! I decided that the pantry needed a good overhaul and organization makeover! And, I’m pleased the say that the end result turned out better than I was even expecting! We’d done a little bit of pantry reorganization before, where we added some simple organization solutions like wire racks for the door and clear bins for the shelves. The results were MUCH better than what we had before. But, it’s been almost 2 years since then and we needed a better system – especially now with needing snacks & lunches for school. So, we did a much bigger overhaul this time. Here’s the before & after:
We started the project by cleaning out the pantry entirely to clean & purge. Then, we took the door off and painted it with 2 coats of Valspar chalkboard paint. The front of the pantry door is now our kitchen command center with a little calendar and bin for Big Brother’s school papers. You can see details from that here –> pantry door kitchen command center. It really looks great in our kitchen, especially since completing our mini kitchen makeover!
For the inside of the pantry, the bulk of the changes were made with new organizing items. I found some great woven baskets at Lowe’s in black & white. I alternated them throughout the pantry and added chalkboard labels to the bins (the only product not from Lowe’s). I absolutely love the look it created! I also picked up a product at Lowe’s to help organize the cans. It’s a tiered, expandable can stacker so you can actually see what’s on your shelves! I love it!!! Amazing how much difference one simple, inexpensive thing can make!
We also use a coated wire shelf to help organize canned goods. It’s so nice to have more functional space just by adding in a few products!
Staying organized is always a work in progress. But, so far so good with our pantry makeover! When we did the smaller pantry overhaul a couple years ago, I didn’t think not having matching containers was a big deal. But, now that I have them, I LOVE the look! And, everything is more functional too! So, it’s a great improvement – especially as we head into the busy holiday season.
Do you have any special organizational scheme in your pantry?

Ahh… I love a good organized space. I love baskets too to throw everything in. Yours looks great, love the chalkboard labels.
Cool Door! We have a LARGE School house chalk board on the wall. (Like the whole wall!) But it is too high for little ones unless they stand on the sideboard.) 🙂 Looks like fun.
It is time to clean out again. I did this last time and have let it get messy and over full again. Thanks for the inspiration to do some reorganizing. hugs….
Wow! This looks fantastic. I love the baskets and the alternating. The labels are perfect too, especially for those family members prone to putting things back in the wrong place.
I love this and looking to organize my panty. I know you got most of your items from Lowes but where did you get the labels. I might have missed it but pardon me if I did. Outstanding idea for organization!!!!
Hi there. Loved your post. I was just wondering what was the exact name of the expendable tiered shelf. I can’t find it on lowes.com. thanks
I’m SO sorry Kristina, but I don’t remember. We bought it in-store by the kitchen organization stuff.
Love this … going to implement this asap …. thanks
