Last month, I had the pleasure of taking a night away with a great group of my Arizona blogging friends for a little mom retreat staycation, aka the #phxmomcation! We LOVE family staycations, but this was my first mom-cation and it was awesome! Just one evening & morning away with friends! The Pointe Hilton Squaw Peak Resort hosted our staycation and our set up was perfect!!
Our home for the night was one of the Pointe Hilton casitas! I highly HIGHLY recommend this if you’re staying with a larger group (whether friends or family). The casita was SO spacious, complete with kitchen & dining areas, living area, and bedrooms. Here’s a peek at the downstairs living space when you first walk in!
There was plenty of room for hanging out, eating, and lots of talking! We stayed up into the wee hours of the morning chatting – a grown up slumber party! So much fun!
Once we finally decided to call it a night, there was plenty of room for our group of 7 (we had 8, but one newly pregnant mama wasn’t feeling well and needed to go home…which is the beauty of a local staycation)! The downstairs sofa converted into a bed and we had two rooms upstairs! Plenty of room!
While we loved the room, we decided to venture out a bit. The Biltmore (a premiere shopping area in Phoenix) is just a quick 10-15 minute drive from the resort. So, we decided to head over that way for a little window shopping and dinner. True Foods Kitchen (one of the Fox Restaurant Concepts) hosted us for a fresh & healthy meal! The menu features many locally grown foods, many of which are allergy. Plus, the menu as a whole follows the principles of Dr. Weil’s anti-inflammatory diet! If you’re in the Biltmore area, I highly recommend trying it out!
The menu changes seasonally and features so many healthy foods! We started with some delicious drinks and gorgeous vegetable crudites. Then, I order the grass fed bison burger. Everything was so fresh and colorful!!
It was such a pleasure to share such a great meal with these awesome ladies. The restaurant experience was a first for many of us and we so enjoyed learning about the menu and the healthy offerings! Such a great reminder that healthy does NOT have to equal bland or boring! And, good food is always better in the company of friends (side note- I LOVE the picture of everyone with their phones. So funny and not staged at all…it’s how we roll at any event or place! 😉 )
After our tasty dinner, we headed back to the Pointe Hilton for a night of chatting! Sadly, we couldn’t take part in the pool that night as we had the rare fringe edges of a hurricane blowing in! But, the pools at the Pointe Squaw Peak are super awesome! The lazy river looked SO inviting!
The next morning, we headed over to Rico’s on property for a tasty breakfast. The breakfast buffet is awesome – such a great variety, including a made-to-order egg station. We all took advantage of that!
Sooooo good!
Our little #PhxMomcation was wonderful! As moms, it’s easy to feel guilty about leaving for the weekend or even just a night. But, taking time for yourself is so important. Just as important is having a support network of other mom friends! I’m SO thankful to have been able to take a little time away with some of my best support network members.
How have YOU taken some time for yourself lately?
