We are huge football fans and are excited for the big game coming up! So, I’m thrilled to share our football fiesta as part of a campaign that has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #ScoreOnFlavor #CollectiveBias
Living in Arizona, we are especially excited about football this season! Our favorite local team is having one of their best seasons in history and we’re hoping to cheer them on all the way to the big game! It’s the perfect excuse to have football watch parties with friends and family! So, I decided to do put together some ideas for a football fiesta – a party with a southwestern flair and game day recipes with a kick! And where football parties are concerned, it really is all about the food!!
You can’t go wrong with queso & chips for a football party! I mean really, aren’t nachos just the perfect football food?! So good! And, this spicy sauce is made from scratch with real cheese. It’s creamy spicy goodness is perfect for dipping tortilla chips, taquitos, pretzels, or any other tasty finger food you’d like during the big game! YUM!!!
Spicy Nacho Cheese Sauce
Ingredients
- 4 cups cheddar shredded*
- 2 12 oz cans evaporated milk
- 1 Tbsp corn starch
- 2 Tbsp El Yucateco Habanero Hot Sauce*
Instructions
- In a small bowl, mix together corn starch and shredded cheddar cheese.
- Dump contents into a sauce pan and stir in evaporated milk over medium low heat.
- Stir/whisk often (to avoid burning) until the cheese is melted and the consistency is smooth. Stir in hot sauce.
- Serve while hot.
Notes
*2 Tbsp of the habanero sauce does make for a very spicy cheese. If you don't like sauce as spicy, start with less and add in small quantities until the desired spiciness is reached.
So good! Queso dip is always a big hit! But we didn’t stop with tasty eats there! Wings are another perfect football party food and these honey lime habanero wings will certainly be a hit with those who like their game day eats with a kick! You can grab the recipe for them here –> Honey Lime Habañero Wings
Serve the wings up with some tasty ranch dip alongside some celery and carrot sticks! Yum! Then, you need to cool all this spice off with an ice cold drink! When eating spicy food, I personally LOVE Coca-Cola with lime! The lime flavors pair with southwestern food SO well! So, put out a dish of lime wedges to go with your drinks!
For all of our football parties, I love putting out our big DIY football drink tub. The 1.25 liter bottles of Coca-Cola products fit so well! Then, you can use mason jars with these printable football wrappers taped on. These simple additions really help tie everything together for your party table! Then, have out some paper straws with your teams’ colors and some lime wedges for added fun!
And, you can’t forget dessert! Buy or make some cupcakes (bonus if they’re in the colors of the team(s) that you’re cheering for)! Then add some fun football-themed cupcake toppers! I happened to have some football rings and these fun players – which made these cupcakes a HUGE hit with the kids!
So fun! We love a good football fiesta, don’t you?! And, I love that putting together a little party like this really isn’t too difficult to do! We used a simple football table cloth for the backdrop and then put down our DIY football field table cover to set the table scene. Super easy! You really don’t need anything too fancy for a football party – some simple football themed decor and the colors of your favorite team set the scene so simply & perfectly!
For all our spicy food for our football fiesta, we used El Yucateco’s habanero hot sauce! It’s great for those that like their food to have a good kick and perfect for a football fiesta!
