We are HUGE college football fans and die hard Cornhusker fans! For fun, you can read a little more about our Nebraska background in the football cake pops post and this Omaha staycation post! Around here, just about every Saturday in the fall is spent doing something related to football. So, I’ve decided to make it a Saturday feature! 🙂 I’ll be sharing fun tailgating recipes & football foods, football crafts, and tailgating party ideas! And, we’re kicking things off today with Chili Cheese Dip! Perfect Game Day food!
This dip is seriously SO good and is ridiculously easy to make – just 3 ingredients and you can pop it in the microwave or oven for a few minutes! Perfect for any last minute football watch “parties” you might be having!
Chili Cheese Dip
Ingredients
- 1 8oz block of cream cheese (we use the 1/3 less fat variety)
- 1 can Hormel chili (Homemade chili would be GREAT instead)
- 1-2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
Directions:
- Spread cream cheese in a shallow baking dish (a large glass pie pan works great! But I don’t have one! 😉 ). Spread chili over top of the cream cheese. Cover those layers with shredded cheese.
- Bake at 350 until the cheese is melted & bubbly. Or, microwave on high for about 5 minutes!
- Serve with corn chips….and ENJOY!!!
That’s it! Seriously, so easy & dangerously yummy!

Looks yummy! Perfect for Steelers and Pitt games!
This dip has been my favorite dip since the mid 90’s. Started making it for football games and the guys just ate it up. Have no idea where I got the recipe from, but I use Velvetta Cheese on top, it’s creamier and mixes great with the chili. Sometimes I put a can of green chiles in it too. Thanks for posting it, I had to save it in P, as one of my favorite dips of all time.
Thanks for the invite! I just linked up 🙂
Looks tasty! You should come link this up to my What’s Cooking Wednesday linky this Tuesday!
Visiting from CB!

Looks like fun! If my Nittany Lions weren’t off to such a horrible start I’d come over!!

Ahhhh, that’s what I was missing; the cream cheese. Wonderful and so so easy. Definitely will be doing this on the next football Sunday.
Thanks for hosting & inviting me over!
I am going to give your recipe a try – here’s one for you: Touchdown Chili http://www.partybluprintsblog.com/the-menu/main/touchdown-chili-scores-big
Ha! We make that chili cheese dip quite a bit around here! Another favorite is lil weenies wrapped in pillsbury cornbread…yummy!!! Of course, we eat our favorite snacks on Sundays 😉 Smiles~Beth
Luckily for me, my husband isn’t big into sports. But, this looks like a yummy recipe for almost any get together! I can especially see my teens and their friends gobbling this up. thanks for sharing!
Thanks! I will be back next week, too! I did a cute post a week or so ago, when I dressed my dogs up for gameday, haha!
What a fun meme! We are big Illinois fans and have FREE season tickets because our son is a sousaphone player for the Marching Illini.
Not a big fan of hormel chili. I use fat free spicy (they really aren’t that spicy) refried beans. delicious
Great crowd pleasing dip! Good for any get together! The best is, you probably have the ingredients in your pantry and it is so easy to make!!!
I’ve made this for years only I add chopped onion, coat pie plate with cream cheese, then chopped onion, chili, then cheese, micro for 3 or 4 min. And yum!
Can you do this in the crock pot?
I’ve never tried it in the crock pot. I would guess you can, but would just worry a little about the cream cheese getting a little “curdle-y” if it gets too hot.
I loved this dip, I ended up adding the shredded cheese to the dish after I baked the Hormel and cream cheese a little. The first time I made it my Hormel was still a little cold and the shredded cheese was a little burnt. This also tastes amazing with the large scoop Fritos!
