For last week’s Travel Tuesday, I took you on a full tour of our family’s super fun staycation weekend in Scottsdale, Arizona! As promised, today I’m sharing more about our resort experience at the Westin Kierland! Westin KierlandDriving up to the property, you start to get a feel for the great accommodations that await. Not only is the resort located right across the street from one of my favorite shopping spots in town (Kierland Commons), but the grounds are fabulous! If you’re a golfer, I’m sure you would especially love it! The course looks amazing! Just check out the fabulous view from our room! Westin Kierland Golf CourseAnd speaking of the room, it was SO spacious! We actually ended up in an executive suite. This was so great with having young kids that go to bed much earlier than Mom & Dad! It was so wonderful to be able to put them to sleep and have a separate area where we could stay up, have the tv on, etc. This suite is actually two adjoining rooms (different styles). One had a king-size murphy bed and the other was a more standard room in terms of space. The Westin Kierland RoomsEven if you don’t go the suite route, the traditional rooms are quite spacious–with over 400 sq. feet! There was plenty of room to even have a crib in there (with room to still walk). So, we were quite impressed with that! This was actually our first experience with using a crib in a hotel. The quality was great! There was a card with directions AND safety reminders. And, it even came with a rug to put down in front of the crib if you want! Westin Heavenly CribI also loved the Heavenly Bath, complete with separate tub and shower, dual showerhead and spa amenities! Having a separate bath tub and shower is something you don’t see often and a great features!! And, the shower was fabulous! I want that showerhead at home!! Westin Kierlan Room BathroomIt’s always fun staying in a hotel room and the boys certainly enjoy all the space! We made sure to have some down time, just enjoying the Westin Signature Heavenly Beds. My favorite was all the awesome pillows!!! Heaven indeed! WestinKierland2But, there are lots of great features around the resort that have nothing to do with the rooms! On our first night after check-in, we started things off by having a yummy dinner at Nellie Chashman’s. I was honestly worried at first because the restaurant looks MUCH nicer than the usual places with go with THREE little boys. But, I think it’s good for them (& us) to have opportunities to work on manners and patience! 😉 Thankfully though, the restaurant was actually VERY family friendly. They did great with the boys and thought of things before I even had to ask (like bringing special plastic cups with lids). They even snagged a pillow to help prop up Baby Brother for his first time in a high chair! WestinKierland1The food was delicious too. The boys went with classic choices of mac ‘n cheese and grilled cheese. Mr. Mom Endeavors and I tried some delicious steak tacos and a turkey blt! Everything was great!Nellie Cashman's Westin FoodThen, after dinner was the big highlight of the night–Kierland Campfire & Arizona s’mores! During a rare rainy cold snap in Scottsdale, it was the perfect activity! The boys loved it! Super fun and yummy!

S'moresThe s’mores are a good indication of how family friendly the Westin Kierland is! Again, with a gorgeous resort like this, I was nervous about going as a young family. But, it was SO family-friendly! After a leisurely early Saturday morning in our room, we did another great family friendly activity–the Compass scavenger hunt. Kierland Mining CompanyWe checked in at the Kierland Mining Company to get our passport books. Then, we set off to explore the property. At each stop, the kids could get stamps in their books. Some of the stops even had little activities to do. It was a great way to explore all the fun things to see and do at the resort!Westin Kierland PropertyThe boys had fun with this. For each stamp you get, you get a fun pin to go on your lanyard. So, by the end we had some really cute pins!!

The Compass Westin KierlandThe boys favorite stop on the property was the OK Corral! It’s where we had the s’mores and the couldn’t wait to go back. Complete with basketball, ping pong, foosball, and life-size chess, it’s a fun place!

Westin Kierland OK CorrallThe other place the boys were dying to check out was the pool. Sadly though, the weather didn’t cooperate. It was too cold & rainy. But, we are eager to go back for a summer fun staycation as the pool and lazy river look awesome! Maybe by then Big Brother would be up for trying the FlowRider too! It looked like so much fun (for more on FlowRider, see our previous staycation post!). Westin Kierland Lazy RiverWe also ate some fabulous food on our stay. In addition to our Friday night dinner and then s’mores, we also indulged in the Hershey Sweet Shoppe! Every night in the lobby area there is a chocolate bar full a delicious options! Hershey's Sweet ShoppeAnd, our favorite dining experience was the Bubbles ‘n Brunch at Nellie Cashman’s on Sunday! Everything from bagels & pastries to salads, crab legs, and steak! A full dessert spread and unlimited mimosas too! So sad we had to check out right after that, because we easily could have stayed for quite sometime indulging in that delicious spread! Sunday Brunch BuffetLooks fabulous, right?! We had a wonderful time during our stay at the Westin Kierland and can’t wait to go back!

  1. My favorite thing at the Westin Kierland…or any Westin…The Heavenly Beds!!! A few of my faves there are the lobby, the pool, and the view from many of the rooms. As a special treat this past January, I did get to indulge in a spa massage there and the brunch too! Amazing!!!

  2. That food looks good enough to eat! It sounds like you had a really great weekend! It looks like there were a lot of fun activities for the kids to enjoy. Glad you had a good trip!
