Star Wars Rice Kripies Treats“There’s been an awakening. Have you felt it? The Dark Side….and The Light”

In honor of Force Friday and all the fun Star Wars excitement (like the Star Wars land announcement, new Star Wars video games, and of course Star Wars: The Force Awakens coming out in December), I thought some fun Star Wars themed treats were in order! I might even surprise the boys with these treats and a little #ForceFriday shopping trip! Stores around the world will open their doors at midnight on September 4th for fans to purchase Star Wars: The Force Awakens toys, collectibles, books, apparel and more!!! Squeee! You can head over to the Star Wars site for the full Force Friday guide (stores like Amazon, Target, Walmart, Toys ‘R Us, and the Disney Store are all participating)!! I don’t think we’re going to go anywhere at midnight on a school night, but an after school Force Friday fun trip sounds like a perfect idea – especially with some fun homemade Star Wars treats in hand! We are SO excited for Star Wars: The Force Awakens and true to the teaser trailers, we focused on “The Dark Side…and the Light” for our treats. Dark Side and The Light Star Wars TreatsIt doesn’t get much more fun (or easy) than some Star Wars crispy treats! We’ve got some dark chocolate Darth Vader treats and Yoda! For both, you just start with the standard Rice Krispies treats recipe (3 T butter, 10 oz bag of mini marshmallows and 6 C of rice cereal). If you’re making larger quantities for something like a Star Wars party, then make two full batches. Otherwise, you could cut each batch in half.

To cut down on the amount of food coloring needed for black treats, I opted to make them chocolate flavored! And this was awesome! For a full batch just add approx 1/4 C of dark chocolate hot cocoa mix into the mixture as everything is melting together. For even more chocolaty flavor, you can even add in a handful of dark chocolate chips. Then, to make them black, use just a small amount of black gel food coloring (I just dip a butter knife in the food coloring once and stir the contents in). For Yoda, I didn’t make them flavored. They’re just tinted green with some food coloring.  Making Star Wars Rice Krispies TreatsSupplies (affiliate links):

Once everything is mixed, evenly spread & press the contents into a greased cookie sheet and let cool some. Then, use your Star Wars cookie cutters to cut out Vader and Yoda. I LOVE the press & stamp cookie cutters. But, the impressions don’t really work on the crispy treats. They still look super cute! You could get extra fancy and pipe on faces with melted candy coating/chocolate. I decided not to go into that much detail though. We just went with a little sparkle gel and some sanding sugar to give the treats a little detail & dimension.  Darth Vader and Yoda TreatsNeedless to say of course, these were a HUGE hit in our house!! Whip a batch up to celebrate Force Friday or for a Star Wars movie night!!
