Recipe type: Dessert
Serves: 8
Ingredients
  • 2 small boxes (3 oz) or 1 large box of blue gelatin
  • 1 bag of blueberry marshmallows, cut into quarters
  • whipped cream (I used ReddiWip)
  • Blue & white nonpareil candy balls (found in the baking section)
Instructions
  1. Make gelatin according to package directions and let set in the fridge for approximately 90 minutes.
  2. Once gelatin is set, you can begin layering your mini trifles ...
  3. Layer #1 – Blue marshmallows quarters with blue and white candy balls sprinkled on top and around the edges.
  4. Layer #2 – Two scoops of blue gelatin (I used a large tablespoon)
  5. Layer #3 – Whipped cream
  6. Layer #4 – Two more scoops of gelatin
  7. Then, top with whipped cream and candies sprinkled on top.
  8. Repeat with other trifles and serve cold.
Notes
Once the gelatin is set, the trifles only take about 20 minutes to put together. The two hour prep time includes the setting time for the gelatin. If you want to reduce the sugar a bit, you could omit the marshmallows and just do the gelatin & whipped cream. The effect would still be very similar! Or, just mini white marshmallows would look great too!

Disney Frozen Inspired Jello TrifleThese are served up in individual mini trifle dishes (<—Amazon affiliate link) and makes enough for 8. If you prefer, you could easily make it in one large trifle dish like my Irish Flag Jello Dessert Trifle. Either way, it’s perfect for some Disney Frozen-inspired fun! And really, no matter how you cut it, Jello parfait desserts can be super tasty (like this raspberry jell-o parfait.) YUM!!

Don’t make this too far in advance of serving. It makes a soupy blue mess. And the recipe card doesn’t mention this is made for individual serving glasses. So the 2 tablespoons of jello in the layers didn’t make sense. I just layered it all. Pays to read the whole website, I guess. It probably tastes ok, will have to pour into a cup and drink it, I suppose

Sorry this didn’t work out for you. As this is made with Jell-O and whipped cream, you definitely want to make it at least 2 hours ahead (to set) and serve cold, as the recipe card said. Otherwise, if left out, it certainly will melt over time.

Substitute for the blueberry marshmallows? We don’t have those here, and don’t have any blue coloured marshmallows.

    • Sara @MomEndeavors says

      Hi Nicola,
Honestly, I think white marshmallows would look just fine! You could always shake them in a baggie with a little food coloring. Or, add some light blue sanding sugar too.

You could make a Blue jello poke cake, using white cake mix, poke holes in it when done with the handle of a wooden spoon, pour the jello over the cake, refrigerate until set, then scoop the cake into the bowls still using the blue and white parillels and the whipiped cream.

    • Sara @MomEndeavors says

Hi Ann! I’m not sure what you have in Ireland, but really any substitution of something blue/white could work!

I would never have thought of making these but want to try next time my grandchildren visit. Very different!
