Here’s a little more Monsters fun! As part of our little Monsters University playdate the other day, we had a bunch of monstrous fun food. But, my friend and I also wanted to have a bit of a fun craft activity to do with the kids. We were originally thinking some kind of felt finger puppets, but then settled on something even easier–“pipe cleaner finger puppets”. They are super easy to make and so fun! In fact, the boys are still playing with these cute little guys almost a week later! Do you spot a few of your favorite scarers in there?! 😉 We seriously had so much fun making these! In fact, I think the moms may have even had more fun than the kids! 😉 The awesome thing about these silly little puppets is that the creative possibilities are nearly endless! Just look at the crazy diversity of “scare-school” monsters we created…
To make your own Monsters finger puppets, you’ll need:
- Pipe cleaners/Chenille stems – a variety of colors
- Craft pom pons – variety of colors and sizes
- Googly eyes – variety of sizes
- Scissors
- Hot glue
We happened to have a GREAT pack that was perfect for this pack that I was sent from CraftProjectIdeas.com some time ago. The bright colors were perfect and it had everything we needed!! I love when I find perfect things like that in my craft stash! I’ve seen similar items at some of the “big-box” stores too! The process of making these is really simple. To make the puppet part, just curl the chenille stems around your finger! Then, attach any variety of poms, eyes, additional stems, etc. The only catch is that to get things to hold, you really need to use hot glue or something similar. So, to do this with kids. We had the kids pick everything out and tell us where everything should go. Then, my friend and I manned the hot glue guns. It worked out really well and so far, the finished products are holding together well. Just be careful about playing with these around kiddos under 3 as there are choking hazards with them!
With all the Monsters University fun around, Big Brother couldn’t resist making Mike & Sulley puppets. Not exactly spitting images, but the kids still loved them!
Gotta love a fun craft project that’s inexpensive, easy-to-make, and so much fun! 🙂
