If you’ve been around the blog for a while, then you know that we are BIG college football fans. With the college season over, the post-season is when we tend to get more interested in professional football. For the “Big Game”, we usually cheer for whichever team has any of our favorite former Huskers. This year a certain Nebraska-refernce has caught our attention, so we’re “team  #OmahaOmaha” all the way and excited for the big game! To celebrate all the football excitement right now, I’ve teamed up with Coupons.com and 12 other super creative bloggers to bring you some awesome DIY football party ideas…and one lucky reader will score a touchdown by winning a $200 e-gift card! My contribution to the party is this fun, DIY football drink tub. It’s perfect for your “Big Game” watch party! Football Party DIY Drink TubPutting this football drink tub together is really pretty easy! You just need a large metal bucket, some brown fabric (suede or faux leather makes it look more authentic), and white duct tape. The amount of fabric you’ll need depends on the size of your metal bucket. Mine is pretty large, so I bought a yard of 60″ fabric. I probably could have gotten away with .75 yard, but this way I have material leftover for making some other fun football projects. Making a football drink tubTo start, I measured the amount of fabric I’d need to wrap around the bucket. I folded the material in half lengthwise (ending up with a 60″ long folded strip) and I cut the fabric on the fold. I then folded one strip in half lengthwise again…which happened to fit on the metal bucket almost perfectly (with just enough left to fold under the bottom). Football Party Tub TutorialI put the folded edge around the top of the bucket since the open-cut edge gets tucked underneath. We wrapped the fabric around the bucket, using small rolled pieces of duct tape to attach the fabric to the tub. The open cut edge got folded under the bottom rim of the tub and stuck down with tape.
Duck Tape Football TubWith the bucket wrapped, all that’s left to do is to give the football some laces! For that, I used white Duck Tape. The center line is half the width of the tape and the laces are quarter-width. I find the tape tears easily. Put the tape on to make laces and then you’ve got a football drink bucket! Not only does the texture of the fabric look great (and hold up to any condensation), but it can easily be removed (and easily stored) once football season is over! DIY Football Drink TubAdd the drink bucket to a tablescape with a DIY football field table cover and football canister for utensils to make for a cute football-themed drink station!

  1. I love that bucket – I might try a modified version of this for a gaming party we host!

As for the sales, I like the Motel 6 one – we are planning a family road trip this year, hopefully to Chicago, and plan on staying a couple places to show the kids some sites.
