September is National Baby Safety Month and among the many baby safety items that we need to worry about as parents, car seats are probably the most important purchase we make in that department. After all, motor vehicle accidents are the leading cause of death for children in the United States! It is so important to have the kiddos well-protected in the car! So I’ve partnered with BRITAX to share with you safety that you can actually see in a car seat! 
Just at first glance, you can see that the BRITAX BOULEVARD 70-G3 looks large and sturdy! In fact, it looked so big to us that we were concerned about it fitting in the car. However, there were actually no problems there. In fact, it actually fit better (even rear-facing) than the infant-carrier system than we had been using for Baby Brother! Another feature you notice right off the bat is the amount of padding around the car seat! And that padding you can see serves some important purposes! Another key safety feature in the BOULEVARD 70-G3 Car Seat is the Base with SafeCell Technology. SafeCells, a special engineered structure, are designed to compress in a crash, significantly lowering the center of gravity and counteracting the forward rotation of the child seat which normally propels the child toward the vehicle seat in front of the child restraint. Since serious head injury can still occur to children properly restrained in car seats, this is a great added safety feature! In fact, head injury is the leading cause of vehicle crash-related deaths for children up to 12 years of age and comprises 65 percent of injuries in both frontal and side impact crashes (according to the Child Injury Led Design and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia). Scary, right?! So, I’m all for added protection for my sweet little guy’s head! 
Adding to this protection is the BRITAX HUGS™ Chest Pads with SafeCell Technology®. This is yet another safety item that you’ll see right away with this car seat! Identified by their honeycomb design, the BRITAX HUGS™ Chest Pads are engineered to ensure proper positioning while SafeCells compress to manage energy and reduce forward movement. The reduction of forward movement is critical because even tiny increases in head excursion (the distance the head travels forward during the crash) can exponentially increase the risk of head injury. With some of our car seats, the chest straps & clip actually move around really easily. These not only seem comfortable to Baby Brother, but so far, they are staying in place so well! No easy slippage!
In addition to all those safety features, it’s important that a seat still be comfortable and easy-to-use. You’ll just have to take my word on the easy-to-use part (I really was quite impressed with how easy install & use was). But, it’s quite clear that Baby Brother sure is comfy enough in his new “big boy” car seat! He was sacked out! 😉
