Easy Family Game Night #dipdiphooray

Hope you’ve been having a great Labor Day weekend! We certainly have had a fun-filled one with lots of games involved– like  college football games, swimming games (we took Baby Brother for his first dip in the pool), The Hunger Games on DVD home movie date night, and a family game night! Super fun!

With all that activity, we kept things really simple for dinners this weekend. I didn’t want to spend a bunch of time in the kitchen while everyone else was having all the fun. So, for dinner last night we decided on game day leftovers (like the veggie tray & chili cheese dip), some Tyson Chicken Nuggets,
Ore Ida French Fries, plus some required dips like ranch & Heinz Ketchup !

While I was shopping at Walmart for our easy dinner menu items & a few things for breakfast, I decided to browse the board game selection to see about picking up something fun & new (you can see my whole shopping trip on Google+ here). For the little ones, we have Chutes & Ladders, Memory, and Sequence for Kids. But, I knew the boys would LOVE some other classics like Hi Ho Cherry Oh, Hungry, Hungry Hippos or Cootie. Sadly, I wasn’t having any luck and then way back on the bottom shelf, tucked behind some other games, I found Cootie. I used to love playing it when I was a kid & for less than $8, I thought it would be a perfect one to own! After my  quick trip to the store, we went to Grammy & Grampy’s house for a swim. The chicken nuggets & fries baked while we went for a swim. Super convenient! There was NO way I was spending time in the kitchen when I could be in the pool with this sweet little guy! :) After our swimming fun, the boys were eager to eat! It was so nice to have a convenient meal ready to go. The kids had the regular ‘ole Tyson Chicken Nuggets and we had Honey Battered Chicken Tenders for the adults. Yum! Then, it was finally game time! Big Brother was SO eager to play! He’s at a perfect age for this! We had two Hasbro preschool games to choose from and he of course chose to start with the new one!We all had such a fun time playing! I was pleased with the patience of both little guys as I didn’t remember how long it can take to roll the “right” number in this game! Great lessons in taking turns & patience while building silly bugs. And, all of Big Brother’s patience paid off as he was the first to build his Cootie bug! Yay for our Labor Day family game night winner! :)
