Need a quick, easy, and not so-scary Halloween craft to do with the kids? Making your own paper plate skeleton is a great option and is also a fun piece of Halloween decor! Our “Mr. Bones” has actually been with me since college and he’s still kickin’ it! 😉 Making this fun guy really couldn’t be easier. In fact, you probably have all the supplies you need already! And, it’s something that the kids can totally help with (and older kids can make their own)! Here’s what you’ll need:
- at least 10 paper plates (you may need as many as 15 depending on how big you make the bones)
- scissors
- marker & pencil
- hole punch
- twine
Using your pencil, sketch out the major body parts on the plates. Many of the long bones (arms & legs) you can get two per plate. What’s great about this project is that you can get as fancy or as simple as you want. Remember, this is just a fun kids’ craft- no need for perfection here. I don’t have set templates – just do a rough sketch from the picture or come up with your own! 😉 Once you have the designs drawn out on the plate, cut out the shapes.
Punch holes in the plates & connect the “bones” with twine. Singing “Dem bones” while working is completely optional… “the arm bone’s connected to the shoulder bone”… 😉
Fun & easy, right?! The kids will love it! Here are some other fun Halloween kids’ crafts to check out:
