We love a good Halloween party, don’t you? They’re SO much fun in fact that more than a third of Americans attend or host their own parties! Making special-themed treats and decor is my favorite for any party, but at Halloween it’s just SO much fun. Anything candy related of course is perfect and Hershey’s chocolates are always a hit, especially the seasonal favorites like Reese’s Peanut Butter Pumpkins, Kit Kat® bars and Cadbury Screme Eggs! So for a super awesome Halloween party centerpiece (and a really fun thing to craft up with the kids), why not create a spooktacular haunted Halloween gingerbread house with Hershey’s chocolates?! The boys and I had so much fun making this haunted candy house! It was so easy to make, with nearly endless creative possibilities! If you’d like to make one too, here’s what you’ll need:
- A gingerbread house base (either store bought, homemade, or with chocolate graham crackers)
- Various Hershey’s chocolates
- Frosting (for “glue” & decorations on the house)
- Shredded coconut (mixed with green food coloring in a baggie)
- Candy eyeballs
We started by decorating our gingerbread house with some frosting and creating the grassy area around the house (with the green shredded coconut). Leading up to the house, we made a Halloween walkway with Kit Kat® bars! For the doors, we used Hershey’s Candy Corn Bars (with a little black frosting and large black sprinkles for doorknobs). Then, for some added dimension, we cut an orange Kit Kat® bar to act as a door frame! I love the pop of color! A haunted Halloween house certainly isn’t complete without some jack-o-lanterns, so we piped on some “scary” faces to the Reese’s Peanut Butter Pumpkins and stacked a couple up by the door. For the top of the house orange Kit Kat® bars were used to add height to the roof, topped with Rolo® eyeballs. Then, we had great fun with the area around the house! A candy cemetery, complete with Hershey’s Cookies ‘n Creme and Hershey’s Milk Chocolate Tombstone Candies, was a big hit! You can carve the tops for a little more definition or just leave as is. We also added Reese’s Nutrageous and Hershey’s Almond Joy bars as coffins. PERFECT!My favorite candy embellishment though is our witch’s cauldron!! It’s made from a Cadbury Screme Egg cut in half, propped up on Kit Kat® bars for the logs & fire. LOVE it! The end result is just SO much fun – perfect for some seriously awesome Halloween party table decor! Besides, who doesn’t LOVE an edible centerpiece?! Have some fun creating this as a family to get ready for an awesome Halloween party! Start by heading to the store to pick up all your delicious Hershey’s treats! With these new and classic treats that can help transform any Halloween party from normal to paranormal, Hershey’s definitely helps families harness the magic of Halloween!
