With a mantel to decorate this year for Christmas, we made some changes and new additions to our Christmas decor. I decided to put our Willow Tree nativity on the mantel, so I wanted to keep the decor around it a bit more natural looking. So, the grapevine wreath I got from Consumer Crafts was perfect! I found the berry stems at Lowe’s and loved them. So, I put them together and made a simple winter berry wreath!

The process really could not have been more simple. Basically, I just ripped apart the berry stems and attached little sprigs (and some leaves) on the grapevine wreath. In any places where things weren’t holding as well as I wanted, I just wrapped it with some thin craft wire.  SUPER easy! No hot glue, no extra supplies – this project didn’t take long at all. I’m a little late to the whole crafty “put a bird on it” craze. But, I thought the little red bird was perfect for a little pop of Christmas color. He was really easy to add as well– his wire feet just wrapped right on to the grapevine.

Overall, I’m so pleased with how this turned out, especially for how quick & inexpensive it was to make. And, I love the more natural look to our mantel. The only the I would change is to use a burlap ribbon instead of the Christmas ribbon. A more neutral ribbon would not only work with the natural mantel look, but I think then I could easily leave the wreath up through the winter.
