This post is brought to you by Stearns® Puddle Jumper® life jackets. Here in the Phoenix area, summer is now in full-swing. For us, that means a lot of swimming. At 6, Big Brother is getting to be quite a little swimmer and rather independent in the water. But, at 3, Little Brother still needs a lot of help. He’s at the age that he wants to do everything on his own, but he can’t hold his own in the water yet. So, when I was given the opportunity to review a Stearns® Puddle Jumper®, a U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jacket, I was definitely interested. And, seriously, how cute is this?! Puddle Jumper Life JacketThe Stearns® Puddle Jumper® life jacket is designed to build confidence in the water as a learn-to-swim aid, which is exactly what we need for Little Brother. The patented design allows children 30-50 lbs. to move and swim freely in pools (plus at lakes or beaches), without ride-up.  Ride-up was a HUGE issue with the life jacket we had for Big Brother. It would rub on his chin and the back of his neck. So, this is a much more comfortable option. Shark Puddle JumperLittle Brother is rather cautious about trying new things. So, while he loved the shark, he wasn’t too sure about putting the life jacket on.  And then, once it was on, he really didn’t want us to let him go in the water. But, as he got more comfortable, he really liked it! Then, he loved “swimming” all over the pool without us having to hold onto him. Swimming in a puddle jumperWe’re loving our new summer swimming device. However, one STRONG word of caution…Always use Stearns® Puddle Jumper® Life Jackets with adult supervision!! The one thing that I don’t like about floaties and devices like is that I think it gives parents a false sense of security. This life jacket works great–when it’s on! These can be life saving devices…when they’re ON! Kids can get these off!!! In less than 5 seconds, while standing on the stairs, Little Brother had this off in the water! 5 seconds people! He just got his arms out and then the rest came off easily. So, you still have to watch them– THE.WHOLE.TIME! A device like this does NOT replace adult supervision. It just makes a non-swimmer’s water experience more fun! And more fun it definitely is. The Puddle Jumper® Life Jackets come in a great variety of colors and prints, perfect options for both boys and girls!

How would you like to try a Puddle Jumper life jacket with your kids?!
