Make first day of school pictures a little more fun with these cute, DIY back to school chalkboard balloons! I love seeing all the cute back to school photos this time of year! It’s such a perfect excuse to snap a cute photo of the kids and document their growth/development/looks/etc. To make photos even cuter this year, I was thrilled to partner with Balloon Time – because balloons definitely make pictures more fun! I mean, who doesn’t love balloons?! And these chalkboard balloons are perfect for back to school time!
Aren’t they cute?! I love the way this turned out! The boys LOVED holding their own special balloons! And, the beauty is that these were REALLY easy to make!
Here’s what you’ll need to make your own chalkboard balloons:
- Balloon Time Helium Tank
- Black balloons
- white chalk marker
- white chalk
- ribbon
To make your chalkboard balloons, start by filling black balloons with helium using your Balloon Time Helium Tank. I love having one of these on hand at the house for special occasions, birthdays, holidays, or just random surprises for the kids! Once your balloons are filled, tie them off & attach ribbon to them. Use a white chalk marker to write whatever phrases you’d like. Then, go over the balloon with chalk a bit to really give it that chalkboard feel.
That’s it! SUPER easy and then you have adorable chalkboard balloons! For a fun surprise, you could tie a balloon to each child’s spot around the table in the morning and surprise them with a special back to school breakfast! Then, do their individual photos with their balloons! So many fun ways to get creative with these! And, it’s so easy to do when you have a helium tank right at the house!!

Such a clever idea! And kids love balloons…I know my four-year old would squeal if he saw a balloon just for him on the first day of school 🙂
