This watermelon limeade is a deliciously refreshing natural drink, perfect for cooling off on hot summer days!
Watermelon Limeade Batido de SandíaWe just returned from our family’s first trip to Costa Rica where we were treated to batidos (aka jugos naturales or bebidas naturales) every single day! I think every single restaurant had them- whether a luxury resort hotel or a little local Soda (Sodas are small restaurants in Costa Rica, serving up traditional local foods). There were a whole variety of choices too, depending on the place – mango, passion fruit (maracuyá), strawberry (fresa), blackberry (mora), pineapple (piña), and watermelon (sandía) were all VERY common (and most had choices of being made with water or milk – we chose water every time). Que rico!! SO good!CostaRicaSodaThese fresh fruit drinks were the perfect refreshment after hiking around hot, humid rainforests – and we had them I think quite possibly with every single meal! SO good and so fresh! We tried every flavor, but our favorites were piña and sandía. Now that we’re home, I’m daydreaming of these tasty drinks…and the incredible views! Costa Rica SmoothiesThankfully, making your own batido de sandía en agua (or watermelon agua fresca) at home is SUPER easy!!! My favorite thing with watermelon is to add lime and limes were a staple in Costa Rica! We often could find a plate of limes served up next to the fresh fruit, perfect for squeezing on the watermelon! Super yum! So, today I’m sharing a tasty watermelon limeade recipe!
