With a newly minted preschooler, one starting kindergarten in the fall, and one going into 3rd grade, handwriting is something that we definitely need to practice! With so much focus on technology these days, it’s easy to have handwriting get brushed aside. But, it’s such an important skill – both for life and academics, with ties to literacy, comprehension, and more! So, the former teacher in me was thrilled to partner with BIC and share more about the BIC Fight for Your Write Campaign.
To practice writing with little ones and continue developing handwriting skills with older kids, the key is to make it fun! Let’s face it, most kids don’t want to just sit and do plain, boring handwriting worksheets over and over again. But there are lots of ways to make handwriting fun! I’ve rounded up a few great handwriting activities – with everything from early handwriting development to working on cursive! And, there’s also a few handwriting worksheet printables in here that would be good practice!
- Shaving Cream Window Writing Practice
- Preschool Rainbow Writing
- Chalk Painting Letter Practice
- LEGO Handwriting Mats
- Salt Tray Letter Practice
- Car Tracing Chalk Letters
- Post Office Play Printables
- Fizzy Dough Pre-Cursive Handwriting
- Cursive Handwriting Name Art
- Disney-Pixar CARS themed PreK writing printables
- Superhero Names Writing Practice Printable
- Cursive Handwriting Printables
So many great ways to practice writing! I also love journals. I’m a paper & pen girl myself when it comes to things like that and it’s great encouraging the kids to do it too. Travel journals are an especially great way to get kids writing!
