Delicious Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Bars

Soft, chewy, and delicious, these pumpkin chocolate chip bars are a delicious fall dessert! 
chocolate chip pumpkin barsDo you like pumpkin? Pumpkin pie is my husband’s absolute favorite, but he’ll take just about any pumpkin dessert in the fall. I’ve made a TON of different pumpkin recipes over the years and they’re always a hit. We’ve already shared pumpkin honey butter, pumpkin pie dippumpkin chocolate cinnamon chip cookies, pumpkin pecan mini cheesecakes, pumpkin oatmeal pancakes, mini pumpkin pies, and pumpkin oatmeal muffins. So, it was time to add some pumpkin chocolate chip bars to that list! Chewy Pumpkin BarsYUM! These pumpkin bars don’t last long at our house at all! They are SO good! And they are really quite easy to make! You just need a few ingredients – it’s definitely one that’s easy enough for the kids to help with! The house smells SO good as they bake too! MMMMmmm! Chewy and delicious, pumpkin chocolate chip bars are a perfect fall dessert!

Serves: 24 squares
Ingredients
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 tablespoon pumpkin pie spice
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1 cup canned pumpkin puree
  • 1-1/2 cups chocolate chips
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 325. Generously grease a 9x13 pan.
  2. Add flour, pumpkin pie spice, baking soda and salt in a small bowl. Stir until well-combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add egg and vanilla to mixture. Mix well. Then beat in pumpkin.
  4. Add the dry mixture to the wet (mix well), then fold in chocolate chips and spread batter evenly into pan.
  5. Bake for 30 minutes or until edges begin to pull away from the pan and the center is set (toothpick inserted in the center is clean).
  6. Cool completely before cutting.
  7. ENJOY!

So, grab a glass of milk or a cup of hot chocolate and enjoy one of these tasty pumpkin bar treats! Then, watch them disappear!

    I made these because they looked delicious! The batter was certainly not runny nor did the pumpkin look “curdled”. I double checked the ingredients and quantities and followed the directions carefully. I am an experienced baker as well.

    They turned out like a cake bar – not super moist and chewy as the picture shows. They taste good – just not like the picture shows.

    Any feedback?

      Hi Carole,
      Not sure! They definitely are cake like (the curdled bit comes before you add the flour), but not sure why they wouldn’t come out looking like the picture. Maybe some oven temp or elevation differences? Not sure! Sorry!

    I don’t care for the combination of cinnamon and chocolate but I can SO picture these made with vanilla and/or butterscotch chips!!!! Or Caramel bits!!!

    I was a little apprehensive to try this recipe due to a previous comment I read. This was an easy recipe to make and my bars turned out just as pictured. I was not sure if I was going to like the chocolate chips, but I was happy I tried it. I would make this recipe again! Thank you!
