DIY Disney Autograph Books

With our big Disneyland trip for the Grand Opening of Cars Land this week, I’ve been busy making some fun stuff for the boys. I started by making some fun activity boards for the car. But, since Big Brother was so into the characters last summer, I definitely wanted him to have an autograph book this time!

Little Brother now wants to do just about everything that Big Brother does. So, there was no way we could get away with only one autograph book. Disney makes some very nice options, but I wanted to go the DIY route. Something simple, functional, and small enough for little hands to handle. So, here are the Disney autograph books the boys will have:

Definitely simple & small enough for little hands and we’ll test out the functionality this week. I was super excited to find these little faux leather memo books at an office supply store for just $2 each. Since I had all the other supplies on hand, I made both of these for about $5 total out of pocket! The books had the main qualities I wanted–a cover I could decorate, plain white (non-lined) paper, and a place to attach a pen.

See?! Seems good, right?! But, definitely too plain! They needed a bit of a Disney spruce up and I found some black vinyl in my crafting stash that was perfect for the front. I used my Cricut to cut the word, “autographs”, out of the vinyl. Then, since I don’t have a Disney cartridge or Silhouette to program my own designs, I just printed a Mickey head template (resized & printed from a Word doc) & cut the Mickey designs by hand. Super easy!

For the inside, I did the same thing with the vinyl, only cut out the boys’ names. And, I included a picture of us with a character from the last trip. Then, I attached a small ribbon to the Sharpie at one end and to the pen holder on the other. That way, hopefully, the pens don’t get lost & the characters have an easier time with them. That’s it! Certainly not the most elaborate thing ever, but should work well for us and I love that it only cost me $5 total! :)

Cute idea! Love how customizable it is. One suggestion you might want to flip through the notepad pages several times (front to back) before your trip. To help loosen up the stiff binding, so that the pages don’t tear out when the Disney Characters go to sign them. Or if you could find a thin spiral bound notepad to slip in there that would work too :)

Thanks! That is definitely a good suggestion! Will definitely do that! :) The thin spiral bound would be a great idea too, but I was having a terrible time finding something with no lines! That’s partly why ended up with this one.
      Thanks for sharing the tips!

We made our own too, there are tons of printables out there then we took them to Staples and had them spiral bind them!! Cheap and easy!!
