Do you make any changes around your house during the spring?  Maybe fresh flowers, brighter colors, or just some good ‘ole spring cleaning? With spring already upon us here, our house was in definite need of some freshening up! Since our living room is especially rather dark and drab,  it just got a spring makeover.

Here’s a glimpse of our dark living room before:

It’s a large room (our front room, which is a dining & living room combo) that we have yet to put much furniture in. We got the piano (a family piece that goes with our dining set that was my grandparents’) at the end of October and you can see that I haven’t done much with it! So, I thought it would be a perfect place to add some fresh spring accents!

Perfect for spring, Renuzit has a new #FreshAccents air freshener. So, I picked one of those up (in one of my favorite scents-“after the rain”) at Safeway & spent a fun afternoon shopping for some other décor items to freshen up our living room.

Here’s a look at everything I got: (you can see my whole shopping experience in my Google+ album here):

I think flowers are a must for spring, but wanted something that will last and that I can potentially use for years to come. So, I opted for silk flowers & the big plant. I spent about $50 on the greenery, but had nothing like it & it will last! Then, I got a few other smaller items—like the springtime mats and cute little bird. The Kleenex is totally random, I know. But, it seems like everyone has springtime colds or allergies right now and I thought the box was adorable. I also LOVE the new frame and how it matches not only my little bird, but looks almost just like the pattern on the Renuzit Fresh Accents!

With minimal work (basically just putting the spring flower arrangements together) and not a large cost, we now have a much more colorful living room!!  The back of the piano looks so much more cheerful!

I love the way the spring arrangement came out and was thrilled that I finally put good use to a vase that I have never used! And, I love that the frame looks cute with the Renuzit Fresh Accents, which is now emitting a very pleasant scent in the living room! And, the dining table got freshened up too! It is now the happy owner of a large vase of tulips—one of my absolute favorite flowers!

For inexpensive fake flowers, I think they look really nice and am so pleased that the space is more inviting and springtime fresh (in both appearance and smell)! What are favorite ways to freshen up the house for spring?

  1. Good Morning Sara,
Flowers it is. I change arrangments with the seasons. The quality of the artificial flowers has change so much from the original plastic ones! 🙂 The tulips are wonderful, My Mom’s favorite and she passed away early this month. One arrangement we recieved was a LARGE vase of fresh tulips. PERFECT.
I love the piano. Even though I am musically challenged and couldn’t even play chop-sticks on it. 😉 That is a great runner on top, too.
I hope you spring weather is a wonderful as ours. Go out and enjoy.
    Hugs… CAROL DEE

  2. Hey, the piano needs to be put to good use. Remember I teach Suzuki piano so I start them as early as 3. Just saying. Angela

  3. I’m going to have to try those out!

I LOVE your flowery table runner! Soooo springy and cute! Where did you get it? Also, on my dining table I have that same green circle ‘mat’ that you have under your tulip vase! Great minds! 🙂

    Happy Spring!
