Last year, we got a second Christmas tree for a different room in the house. But, I didn’t make or buy any sort of nice tree skirt to go with it. In fact, what I have might actually be a dollar store purchase. I don’t remember where I got it, but I know it was really inexpensive–basically just a large piece of red felt-type fabric. It really needed some sprucing up! So, I did! The picture doesn’t actually do it justice–with our gold-themed tree, the skirt looks great and provides just the right amount of added sparkle. I made it using Tulip® Fashion Glitter™ Shimmer Transfer Sheets. It was SO easy and I got it done during naptime! Bonus!

Here’s what I did:

– I used a gold sheet from a Tulip® Fashion Glitter™ Shimmer Transfer Sheets package. (I have yet to try all those awesome Tulip® Fashion Glitter™ Shimmer Fabric Paints yet, but I have a few ideas!)

– I decided to use snowflakes for the design, using a snowflake punch. There’s a layer of plastic coating on top of the glitter that has to be removed before ironing. I decided to peel that layer back first to make the punching easier. I don’t know if you’re “supposed” to do that, but it worked out great! – I punched out as many snowflakes as I could using one sheet of transfer paper.– Next up, time for the layout and ironing. I propped up the tree skirt on the table and laid out the snowflakes about where I’d like them. Then, I ironed them on, just as the directions say. It was SO easy!– After ironing them on for just a few seconds, they looked like this:– So in under an hour, that’s how I spruced up our cheap tree skirt! And, it looks great with our gold tree! 🙂
I loved how easy the Tulip® Fashion Glitter™ Shimmer Transfer Sheets were to use and think the end result is great!
