Old-Fashioned Ginger Snap Cookies

Mmmmm! This post is full of all kinds of delicious treats! Not only am I sharing some delicious ginger snap cookies with you, but I’ve teamed up with some of my favorite food blogging friends to bring you a virtual Christmas Cookie Exchange party of sorts! YUM! And, too bad the smell of these ginger snaps can’t come through the screen right now. Heavenly! The recipe for these little beauties actually won my dad a blue ribbon at the Navajo County Fair at the ripe old age of 10! So fun!! Needless to say, these are a long-time family favorite (as I think he got the recipe from his grandma). The gingerbread flavors are perfect for this time of year and since they are SO easy to make, these ginger snap cookies are perfect for a cookie exchange party!

Ingredients

• 3/4 cup shortening
• 1 cup sugar white
• 1 egg unbeaten
• 1/4 cup molasses
• 2 cups sifted flour
• 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 1 teaspoon cinnamon
• 1 teaspoon ginger

Instructions

• Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
• In a large mixing bowl, mix together all ingredients until well-combined.
• Roll dough into little balls (about the size of a walnut).
• Roll balls in sugar on drop on to a greased cookie sheet 1" apart.
• Bake 10-12 minutes.
