Captian America Shield Patriotic TreatsAre you ready for some patriotic fun? With 4th of July right around the corner, I’ve teamed up with a big group of creative blogger friends to bring you an awesome list of patriotic ideas for all your summer festivities. For my part, I’m sharing some super fun patriotic Captain America shield treats! We had them as part of our Avengers: Age of Ultron party last month. But, they double as awesome patriotic party treats that kids and adults will love! Captain America Shield Rice Krispie TreatsThey really are quite easy to make and they’re no bake, perfect for the summer. You’ll just whip up a regular batch of rice krispies treats, cut in large circles, and cover with different colors of chocolate/candy-coating! Using this same process in the past, we’ve made Cinderella magic wand treats, Copycat Disney Parks Mickey ears treats, and Jack-o-lantern Mickey treats! So fun!

Here’s the basic directions…

– 1/4 C butter
– 1 bag mini marshmallows (about 6 cups)
– Rice Krispies cereal (about 6 cups)
– red, white, and blue candy bark/coating
– large circle cutter
– piping bags & tips (or cut baggies)

You’ll start the shield-making process by whipping a batch of rice krispies treats. Spread everything out in the pan to get a nice even layer. Once cool, cut out the shields with a large circular cookie/biscuit cutter. You’ll need white, red, and dark blue candy melts to cover the shields. Start with melting blue candy coating (I always melt in the microwave according to package directions). Put melted “chocolate” into a baggie or piping bag with tip. Pipe a small blue circle in the center of each treat. Then, move on to red. Pipe a thick circular line around the blue, then pipe another on the outer edge of the shield. Let cool (place in the refrigerator for faster cooling time if you’d like), then move on to white. Fill the empty space with white and finally pipe stars into the center. It takes a little bit of time but the end result is SO fun!  Patriotic Rice Krispie TreatsThese were a HUGE hit with the kids and I just love how awesome they’d be for 4th of July festivities! Combine them with some fun patriotic punch and you have an adorable food spread! To add to your party though, we’ve got a HUGE list of great patriotic ideas below!
