With Big Brother preparing for kindergarten next year and at that critical “learning to read” age, I’ve been curious about some of the LeapFrog products. So, when asked to host a LeapFrog party to test out the LeapPad and Tag Reading System, I was thrilled! And, so was Big Brother—-just look at that excited face all ready for the party! 🙂

We put all the LeapFrog products out for display on the table, information about the products, activity sheet packets for the kids, coupons for the moms, the cute little froggy craft, and chocolate “leap frogs” of course! Plus, we had some swamp slime to drink!

Before things even fully got underway, the boys discovered the LeapPad. It’s really intuitive for them to use! After just showing him once, Big Brother was able to turn it on and navigate it fully. He was so excited to show his friends; he just couldn’t wait! 🙂 They turned it on and took turns taking a look at it with no parental involvement at all. Seriously! The moms were talking while we waited for another person to show, the kids got strangely quiet and this was the scene in the other room…

So fun! The LeapPad is essentially like an ipad designed especially for kids (and at $99.99 the price tag is much lower than adult tablets). Even the 3 year olds in the group were able to navigate it well! Just like adult tablets, the LeapPad has a built-in camera/video recorder, plus 100+ games and apps! So far, Big Brother’s favorites are the Art Studio and the Cars 2 ebook. There’s even a learning path tool that tracks your child’s learning progress and will send tailored tips to you via email! WOW! The other moms and I were VERY impressed by the LeapPad! So, I would say if you have an older 3 year old, up to a 9 year old, this would be a really fantastic Christmas gift this year!!

If the LeapPad is out of your price range, then check out the Tag Reading System. We moms were all amazed by the technology that one little Tag pen could “read” any of the Tag products. All the books are great, but hands-down everyone’s favorite thing (kids and moms included) was the Tag World Map!

Once you have the Tag pen, the map is only $19.99 and well worth that price, in my opinion. The kids absolutely LOVED taking turns picking animals and special locations on the map to learn more about! Big Brother has found a new feature each time we’ve used it.

One of the moms mentioned that they would love a United States version. And, wouldn’t you know–there is one!  I think that will be our next purchase! 🙂 So fun!

As part of our party, each child got a LeapFrog activity packet. So, we spent a little time working on those as well! We matched letters to pictures, decoded secret messages, and worked on some sequencing! So, as you can see, we had a fantastic time learning, creating, and sharing with our friends thanks to LeapFrog! We were all really impressed with the products and I definitely recommend them as fun learning tools for your kiddos! Stay tuned for a little video coming soon, but first…

Giveaway!

Now, I wish I could say that I had something MAJOR to giveaway–like a LeapPad or something. Sadly, no. But, I do have some coupon sheets in case you are interested in buying something. Each sheet has two coupons–one for $5 off any LeapFrog Explorer game over $19 and one for $4 off any Tag book or map over $9.99. Both coupons expire on 11/30. So if you see this as a Christmas present in your future, let me know.

To Enter: Now closed–coupons are gone.

We’ll run this one a little different than usual… I’ll send the coupons to the first 4 people to comment here letting me know what sounds great about the LeapFrog products to them AND emails me at momendeavors (at) gmail (dot) com with their contact information! That’s it! 🙂

Disclosure: I received the products shown above for review purposes courtesy of LeapFrog and MomSelect. As always, all opinions and experiences are my own.

  1. I was just looking at the Leappad for my son as a Christmas gift. He is 2 1/2 so I wasn’t sure if he is too young. Reading that your 3 yr. old crowd could navigate it easily makes me think that Santa may just bring it after all.

I would really appreciate some coupons. Thanks.

  2. I enjoyed your review about the Leap Pad! My daughter got one for her 4th Birthday, and LOVES it! She also got a gift card, and bought anouther LeapPad game with it!

  3. this would make a perfect gift for the little boy i’m a nanny too. my kids use leapfrog products many years ago (17 & 12) & of course as a parent LOVE their products. Thank you for your review 🙂

  4. Nice to see another review of the Leappad. THinking about getting it for my four-year-old. I like that the products are fun and educational. I also like that the Pad sounds intuitive, so it wouldn’t be frustrating to use!

  5. Ok I am commenting for the coupons too… Just in case there are any left! 🙂

And we love the leapfrog products. Quinn has the explorer and tag reader and Elliot has the tag jr, so we are super big on their stuff! I love all the different learning games and apps the leapster has available!

  6. My husband and I were very happy to read your reviews on the Tag reader. We are thinking about purchasing one for our 5 year for Christmas. If you still have the coupon available, we would love to take it off your hands and make good use of it. Thanks 🙂
