DIY Painted Striped Gold Metallic VaseGold and metallics seem to be all the rage right now! Silver & gold of course are classic for Christmas. And, I love that the gold tones work great for Thanksgiving as well. I had an old, inexpensive vase that I thought I could spruce up, so I decided to give it a makeover! Gold Metallic VaseThe inspiration for the vase project came from my friend Amanda at Crafts by Amanda. She recently wrote two awesome books chalk full of crafty ideas that she sent to me to check out (affiliate links to purchase the books are below):

and Duct Tape Mania

There are so many fun project ideas in the books! The books are geared toward kids, complete with bright pictures, craft tutorials, and fun facts. But, there’s plenty of inspiration you can draw from for adult crafts and decor projects. I used one of the ideas from the Rubber Band Mania book for this project! All you need is a vase, assorted rubber bands, and some gold metallic spray paint! Rubber Band VaseFor a more varied look, I chose the different sizes of rubber bands. And, I do like that look – but, the smallest bands didn’t work as well as the larger ones. So, just keep that in mind with the project. Once you put your rubber bands where you like, then spray paint with a couple coats of the metallic paint. Make sure to let dry completely (to avoid smudges, fingerprints, etc) and cut the rubber bands off. Then, fill with candles, flowers, ornaments – or whatever you like! It’s a very easy way to spruce up an inexpensive vase! DIY Gold Metallic VaseLove the results! It will be perfect for the holiday season! And, Amanda’s books would make great gifts for the holidays as well. All the craft ideas are sure to keep kids busy during the winter months. You can work on making a rubber band powered car!!! I know my boys will LOVE that!! And, you can even learn how to do those rubber band “loom” bracelets without the loom!! 1. Thanks, Joyce! And, honestly…I have no idea!! Hahahah! I was actually worried about that so I was just really careful about how I sprayed near the top, but it did come out really nice!

    2. You could always turn it upside down before spraying it.

I know this is an old post, but just saw this and love it!!
