I’m so excited for all things Christmas this year! And, we have some new decor too! As part of the Lowe’s Creative Blogger team, we were given the challenge to create some Holiday front door décor this month! I had a couple ideas in mind for a twist on a tradition wreath. But, then inspiration struck while we were walking down the rope aisle when I spotted some red & white rope! How about some giant peppermint lollipops for Christmas decor?! Aren’t they fun?! I have a thing lately for all things peppermint! Last year we made peppermint hot cocoa cookies, peppermint chocolate pie, and peppermint brownies. It’s the perfect flavor this time of year, but I also like decorating with the red & white colors! We have our favorite candy cane reindeer on the tree! Plus, we have a walkway of candy cane lights out front! So, these giant peppermint-looking lollipops fit right in! Giant Peppermint LollipopsMaking these is really SO easy! In fact, it took us longer to hang them than it did for me to make them! 😉 Here’s what you’ll need:

  • 5/8″ braided red & white rope – two pieces cut to approx. 6 feet each
  • 5/16″ x 36″ wooden dowel
  • white spray paint
  • fishing line
  • hot glue (or similar)

Giant Lollipop SuppliesStart by spray painting the wooden dowel white and cutting into two equal sections. Once the dowels are dry, you can make the lollipops. Start with one end of the rope and start wrapping it around itself in a lollipop shape. Be sure to put a bit of hot glue every few inches to help hold everything together. I decided to attach the outside edge on the back with a fair amount of hot glue. Then, also using hot glue on the back, attach the dowel.  Making rope lollipopsYour finished lollipop will look like this:

These are certainly really top heavy, so that makes hanging them a little interesting. Just play around with it until you get something that works. We love the way they look on the front door!
