With a big growing library full of Disney books, my daughter very excited when we were sent a review copy of the new book, Minnie in Paris. The book is a sweet story about Minnie going to Paris to take her bows to the fashion runway. With a few mishaps she ends up creating new bows with all the souvenirs she gathered in Paris. My daughter and I were inspired to create our own bows and enjoyed making a snap bow necklace together. The interchangeable bows inspired by Minnie’s designs in the book are a great way to dress up a preschool outfit or be a bow designer during pretend play at home in our Disneyland family game room. Minnie-in-Paris-snap-bow-necklace-tutorialThe Minnie in Paris book begins with Minnie’s excitement at receiving an invitation to a Paris fashion show. After a luggage mixup with Penguini the Musician, Minnie needs to create new bows with very little time. Following Penguini’s bunnies through Paris gives her just the inspiration she needs to design an entire collection of bows perfect for the runway. The sweet story and whimsical art are just a couple of reasons why the book is my daughter’s new favorite before bedtime. We added the Disney ebook that came with the book purchase to my daughter’s iPad and she enjoys reading her new book electronically too.

Supplies:

  • scrap fabric (each bow requires approximately 4″ x 4″ fabric)
  • embellishments
  • ribbon
  • fabric glue
  • snap hardware and rotary punch

snap-bow-necklace-tutorialFold the fabric like an accordion and pinch in the center. Use fabric glue to secure the small strip of fabric around the middle with the snap pin directly in the center on the back of the bow.

Minnie-in-Paris-bowsYour bows are sure to be just as pretty as those seen on the runway in the Minnie in Paris book!
