The boys and I made a great project over the weekend – giant hanging popsicle stick snowflakes! They are perfect for taking up some space on the wall next to our faux mantel! As part of a sponsored campaign, we got the idea from the Dollar Tree Value Seekers Club, which is a free club full of crafts, recipes, décor, tips, contests, insider information, frugal fun ideas, and more! This month, they have the large popsicle stick snowflakes featured and I loved them! DIY Popsicle Stick Giant SnowflakesThe project itself takes a bit of time, but is really quite easy. As the Dollar Tree Value Seekers Club directions indicate, all you really need is paint (colors of your choice), popsicle craft sticks, and glue. Because I already had a hot glue gun on hand, we used that to help make it a little sturdier. But, you can certainly use super glue or craft glue from Dollar Tree.  Making popsicle stick snowflakesYou can find full instructions on the Dollar Tree Value Seekers Club site. But, really the process is quite easy – just start with a basic shape (star, hexagon, octagon, etc) and build out from there in any sort of snowflake “shapes”. Then, paint and embellish as you like! Just like real snowflakes, each giant snowflake creation can be completely unique! Since the boys are SO into the movie FROZEN right now and we might want to keep the snowflakes up through January, we just went ahead and did white for ours. But, we did decide to add a little glitter! To help cut down on the glitter mess inside the house, we made sure to add the glitter when the paint was wet and then let it all dry. Then we shook off the excess glitter. Additionally you could add a coat of decoupage glue over the top of it to help seal it. Giant Snowflake Decorations

I want to try the balloon painting craft. My kids love balloons. They like bouncing them up in the air and chasing them around. They would love to do this project.

  3. Signed up,
The first project I would do with my kids is the Fingerprint Christmas Lights Keepsake and while they keep on having fun with the finger painting I would make some of those New Year’s Eve Cupcaketinis.

  4. I just signed up. I really like the different ideas, especially the White Chocolate Peppermint Pretzels. In fact, I think I’ll make some this weekend. Thanks.

  5. I don’t even have kids. Some of these ideas are really cool for my preschool class, and others I’d make with my roommate to hang up in our apartment. Especially the popsicle stick snowflakes! We’d definitely paint them white and hang them on our red walls. Awesome!
