DIY Frosted Glass Gold Embellished VaseAs part of a sponsored campaign with Blueprint Social, I’ve started some holiday projects using Martha Stewart Crafts! I’m a big fan of gold for the holidays. In fact, one of our trees is almost entirely red & gold. And, with the Martha Stewart Crafts multi-surface craft system (in-store at Michaels or in Plaid’s online store), there are a lot of ways that you can have fun making things glittery and gold! In just a few minutes (minus drying time) with just a few supplies, you can take a boring dollar store vase to something much more festive and fun! DIY Holiday Vase

Supplies:
Glass Vase
Martha Stewart Crafts Matte Finish Decoupage
Martha Stewart Crafts Decoupage Brushes
Martha Stewart Crafts Gold/Copper Decoupage Metallic Trims
Martha Stewart Crafts Metallic Decoupage Paper Doilies
Scissors

Martha Stewart Decoupage ProductsDirections:

Choose the doily and trim that you like. Cut the doily in half and cut the trim to fit the vase. Then, using the large decoupage brush, apply a thin coat of matte decoupage over the entire vase. Decoupage glass vasePlace the cut doilies onto the vase along the bottom edge of the vase. Smooth out any bubbles. While those dry, apply the gold trim. This was a little trickier as the cut ends of the trim kept popping up. So, I went over the trim with a good coat of decoupage and then held the trim in place for a few minutes with one finger. After just a little bit, it finally stayed in place. Once dry, put another thin coat of the decoupage over the entire vase, being careful of drips and brush lines (so they won’t show up as much once dry). If you do have any “blemishes”, just wipe it with a damp paper towel. DIY Frosted Glass VaseLet everything dry, then decide how you’d like to use your vase. The possibilities are nearly endless. In fact, the decoupage is even dishwasher safe! For now, I added some red & gold ornaments to the vase. It looks great on the mantel or next to the little light-up table top tree! I may even make another one to match! DIY Christmas VaseFor more great holiday DIY ideas and crafts, check out these other glass paint and decoupage projects from fellow bloggers…
