Yesterday, we started our tour of Radiator Springs, “the cutest little town in Carburetor County” (aka Cars Land at the newly reopened Disney California Adventure Park) with a review of all the awesome ride attractions. So, if you missed that, you might want to start here with the Cars Land Review Part 1. This “Part 2” post covers all the restaurants, shops, characters and other fun Cars Land details! Cars Land Restaurants and Shops ReviewAs you walk down the recreated Route 66, the rides aren’t the only awesome things to check out. Details from the movie and Route 66 abound everywhere you look! Plenty of stuff to “get your kicks” on! 😉 In addition to the fun ride attractions, Cars Land treats guests to food and merchandise locations inspired by the Radiator Springs landmarks in the film like Flo’s V8 Café, Fillmore’s Taste-In, Cozy Cone Motel, Radiator Springs Curios, Sarge’s Surplus Hut and Ramone’s House of Body Art. Plus, you’ll be able to meet some fun characters while you cruise around!!

 Radiator Springs Roadside Restaurants:

After all that fun riding and cruising around, you’ll need a place to re-fuel. And, Cars Land has 3 different options. First up as you walk in is…

Fillmore’s Taste-In:

With Fillmore’s love of organic fuels, you’ll find some more natural choices on the shelves in his tie-dyed geodesic dome, including items like whole and cut fruits, bottled water and juices. There are some other snacky options available as well.

Continuing on down Route 66, you’ll come up on your next refueling station on your left. And, it’s filled with heartier snack, foods, & sweet treats than you’ll find at Fillmore’s…

Cozy Cone Motel

This was so fun to see in person as it’s inspired by the quirky “wigwam” motels along Route 66. My dad grew up in Northern Arizona in a town on Route 66 with a wigwam motel that seriously looks almost exactly like this. We drove by it every time we visited my grandparents! So, I can personally attest to this type of look being a very real thing on Route 66! 🙂

At the Cozy Cone Motel, you’ll discover each of five giant teepees cones, offering different tasty cone-themed treats. “Coney” puns & decor abound, where you can order food like “pop-cone” or “chili cone queso”! 😉

  • Cone Number 1 offers churro bites with cinnamon-chocolate sauce, cinnamon-spiced hot cocoa and Ramone’s Pear of Dice Soda (made with dessert pear flavor, mojito flavor and Sprite).
  • Cone Number 2 features soft-serve ice cream and “route” beer floats.
  • Cone Number 3 offers savory bites all served in edible bread cones (such as a bacon-scrambled egg cone for breakfast, chicken verde or chili “cone” queso for lunch and dinner) and  Fillmore’s Fuelin’ Groovy Ades (all-natural lemonade with wild berry foam, or pomegranate limeade with lemon-lime foam).
  • Cone Number 4 is pretzel bites with cheesy sauce and Red’s Apple Freeze (frozen concoction with apple juice, toasted marshmallow syrup and passion fruit-mango foam).
  • Cone Number 5 features two flavored popcorns daily (rotating choices include dill pickle, sweet & spicy, bacon & cheddar, nacho cheese, and salt & vinegar) and Doc’s Wild Grape Tonic (sprite with wild grape syrup and wild berry foam).

I couldn’t resist getting a cone full of churro bites on the Grand Opening nightSooooo good! And, in true pregnant lady form, Emily (from Family and Life in Las Vegas) and I had to try a little dill pickle popcorn!! 🙂 I’ve heard that Cone Number 3’s savory bread cones are delicious too, but didn’t get a chance to eat one of those too.

And, last, but certainly not least, almost right across the street from the Cozy Cone, you’ll find…

Flo’s V8 Cafe

Inspired by timeless roadside diners, here you’ll find the “finest fuel on Route 66”. There’s a large showroom with a good amount of indoor seating. Plus, outside, you can pull up to shaded tables right by your favorite gas pump!

Flo’s is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, featuring foods much heartier than your traditional amusement park fare.  For lunch, Mr. Mom Endeavors and I split the citrus turkey salad which was delicious. And, we were really impressed with the kid’s meal. Mac & Cheese served with apple slices, grapes, peas & carrots, and milk! Nice to have a well-balanced meal right in the park!

So, definitely, between your three refueling locations, everyone should be able to find something to eat & enjoy in Cars Land!

Radiator Springs Shops

While you’re cruising around, you’ll also probably want to check out the shops for some fun Cars Land merchandise! There are three stores to choose from: Radiator Springs Curios, Sarge’s Surplus Hut and Ramone’s House of Body Art. We found our grand opening Cars Land Mickey hats inside Ramone’s. And, in Sarge’s (which has the largest selection of kid stuff), we found our little car souvenirs. The boys picked out cars modeled after the rides—so we came home with two of Mater’s baby tractors and two convertible Radiator Springs Racers! 🙂

Meet the Residents of Radiator Springs:

There are options to pose with Lightning McQueen and Mater of course! Plus, Red the Fire Truck can be found enlisting young guests to help him water the flowers and clean up the town. But, be prepared to get wet!! You might also run into DJ’s Dance Party (as seen in “Cars”).  He and his team of dancers coast down the boulevard, treating guests to a rolling dance party! 🙂

Radiator Springs at Night

The whole land is fantastic any time, but there is something extra magical about Radiator Springs at night!! When night falls, 16 luminous neon signs in bright colors light the sky. It creates such an amazing atmosphere–and is extra fitting when, just like in the movie, Sh-Boom starts playing! The fun happens at dusk with Sh-Boom playing as the neon lights go on one by one down Route 66.

So, even if you’ve been to Cars Land earlier in the day, I definitely recommend heading back once the sun goes down to experience it at night! Go for a stroll by the neon light and enjoy a treat at the Cozy Cone motel!

Hope you’ve enjoyed our two day cruise around Cars Land! It really is so fun–with absolute perfection in the attention to detail.
