We’ve been trying to do some themed playdates with our friends and we recently did “Dinosaur Day”! We start our playdates in the morning and have them go through lunch. Then, everyone can get home for naps!!

To start the morning off, we read some Dinosaur books! We got out all of ours and our friends brought over theirs too! So, we had a little Dinosaur library table. No, we certainly did NOT read them all. But, it was fun to have all the books displayed and to at least let each kiddo pick a book to read. After a bit of story time, we went outside for a “Dino Dig Site” Activity!! It was so fun & easy to set up! You could use any toy dinosaurs, but I thought it would be fun to have the kids get to keep the dinos that got dug up! So,  I purchased a set of dinosaur fossil skeleton figures! 🙂 We had a decent-sized rock pile from breaking ground on our garden, so I went out earlier in the morning and buried the dinosaur bones. I also made a little “Dino Dig Site” sign & stuck in the ground. The kids used various kiddie shovels & tools to excavate!

Then, after a bit of outside free play with their newly found dinosaur “fossils”, we came inside for some more activities. First up was the Dinosaur Track Matching Activity! (You can click on that link to get more info about how we did it!)After matching up all the tracks, we did some activities that our friends brought over—-a few worksheets and then an adorable dino lacing card from the awesome Confessions of a Homeschooler letter D series!

After all that fun, the kiddos were tired & ready for lunch! So, we had a fun dinosaur muffin tin lunch while watching some “Land Before Time”! 🙂

It was a dino-rific day and we are so looking forward to our next themed day! 🙂
