Although it’s fun to decorate cookies and sweets with sugar, I’m doing my best to limit candy in our home this month. This week my daughter and I made a holiday house with crackers and cheese. The alternative to a traditional gingerbread house was fun and I’ll be doing this project in my preschool classroom too.
The basic supplies might already be in your kitchen. You need whipped cream cheese and saltine crackers to build the house. The decorating options are endless. We used additional crackers and cheese slices to decorate our house.
Use a cookie cutter to change the shape of sliced cheese. The snowflakes were perfect for the house!
Whipped cream cheese made it easy for my daughter’s little hands to spread the cheese with out breaking the crackers.
A small amount of cream cheese holds each decoration in place.
Unlike a traditional decorated holiday house, this one is meant for eating right away! Easy, tasty, and fun! A perfect fun snack to make with the kids this holiday season!
Do you have any fun decoration ideas for your cracker and cheese holiday house?

That is a fun updated version of the gingerbread house.
I love this idea Heather!!
I wonder if you could make a cheese ball or should I say block, and then decorate it with crackers and dries fruit, then it could be eaten.
