With holidays like Earth Day, Memorial Day, and Independence Day on the horizon, it’s a good season to talk about celebrating community & country with your kids! So, we’re thrilled to partner with our sponsor Gymboree to showcase Gymboree’s new Americana Line and help spread some #LocalLove!
Community rock GardenGymboree wants to celebrate kids’ patriotic spirit and legendary kindness with a campaign called #LocalLove, encouraging kids to give back in their communities. The new Americana collection couldn’t be more perfect for getting in the patriotic spirit! I mean how star-spangled and cute are those shoes?!?!? LOVE!

Patriotic Clothes

Gymboree PatrioticIt’s NO secret at all that I love matching outfits for the boys and I love that Gymboree enables me to do that still for all 3 boys! I can have them coordinate or match in a way that makes my momma matching-loving heart happy! And the boys were SO happy with their new clothes. So it’s a win-win! They especially loved the different Americana tanks (we all think the hot dog is HILARIOUS) and the red pull-on cargo shorts. The tanks, shorts, and shoes are great on their own – both comfy and cute. But, I also love that we can put a plaid button down shirt over the tanks/tees and have a nicer, trendy layered look! They look so stylish and patriotic! Gymboree AmericanaSo, grabbing some fun new digs from Gymboree’s new Americana Collection will definitely help kids celebrate country and show their patriotic spirit! But, we also want to talk about celebrating community! Is that something you foster in your family? Do you practice giving back to the community? Gymboree challenged us to share some #LocalLove in our own community. So, the kids and I brainstormed some ideas. Here’s some of the things they came up with:

Community Love Ideas

  • Clean up trash at the park
  • Clean up trash on a hike
  • Plant flowers for the butterflies
  • Buy food for the food drive
  • Give extra money at church
  • Donate some of our toys
  • Make a rock garden like at school

The boys’ school actually just did an amazing painted rock garden that every student participated in and the results were amazing. So, that’s where that idea came from. And after talking things out with them a bit, we decided to work on a few of those. Hiding or leaving painting rocks in places around town is becoming a fun community “thing”. People can take them as a way to brighten their day or just have fun finding them as a fun activity. Since playing at our community parks is one of my boys’ favorite activities, we decided we would show some local love at one of our favorites. My boys call this the “tree house” park. So, they wanted to make some fun painted rocks to leave at the park and also pick up any trash while we were there! And they couldn’t wait to do it!! They loved it so much that they decided it would be fun to do a whole rock painting party with friends! Then everyone could take their rocks and spread them all over! Wouldn’t that be fun to do as part of Earth Day or even a kids’ birthday party?! I love it and we can’t wait to do it! But for now, they were so happy with the little local love we spread. Are you ready to celebrate community and country with your kids? The fun, coordinating themes of Gymboree’s Americana Collection is perfect for showing their patriotic spirit for any community activity they choose! So tell us in the comments below…What are some of your favorite ways to get kids involved in giving back to their community and showing #LocalLove?
