An extreme milkshake for the extreme Star Wars fan! This Star Wars BB-8 inspired freakshake is the perfect sweet treat for your next Star Wars family movie night or Star Wars party!
It’s no secret that we are HUGE Star Wars fans around these parts! So, it should come as no surprise that we are absolutely counting down the days until Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opens at Disneyland this summer (May 31st to be exact). To celebrate the big announcement, I decided to make a fun treat for some Disney magic at home inspired by our favorite droid, BB-8!
Isn’t it fun?!
What is a Freakshake?
If you haven’t seen (or heard of) the “freakshake” yet, it’s basically what you see here – a super crazy, indulgent, fun milkshake. The freakshake concept apparently originated in Australia and has been showing up as fun desserts in places around the world ever since. We had our first freakshake at Black Tap in NYC! They’re completely, insanely over-the-top, but oh so fun! You can load them up with whatever sweet toppings you heart desires – the possibilities are nearly endless, so your creativity can run wild.
And that’s exactly what we did here – we went wild with a fun Star Wars theme. And there are even more awesomely amazing Star Wars themed ideas below, so keep reading!
How To Make A BB-8 Inspired Freakshake
Our food inspiration for this freakshake came from my little DIY (no-bake) BB-8 cookies that I made a few years ago to celebrate the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. I knew they would be the PERFECT treat to go on our BB-8 freak shake.
The milkshake part is as simple as you can get – just a basic vanilla milkshake. Then we added all the fun decorations and extra goodies!
The glass has orange candy melts piped on to represent the orange circles on BB-8. The glass is rimmed with white candy melts topped with orange & silver sanding sugar, silver dragees, and a mini-OREO cookie.
For all the fun toppers, we attached one of the BB-8 cookies to a popsicle stick to place in the shake. We also cut White Fudge Ding Dongs to represent BB-8 and placed those on a lollipop stick. There’s also a tower of powdered sugar donuts, orange twizzlers, and a regular OREO cookie stacked with a mini-OREO on top. Pop in a few straws (especially with orange, black, grey, and white colors) and you’ve got one epic Star Wars BB-8 inspired freakshake! The boys absolutely could NOT resist diving into this! It made for a great Star Wars movie night treat around here – and you know how much we love movie nights (and good, themed food treats)! So this was a hit! And there are even MORE out-of-this-GALAXY freakshakes below! SO much creativity!
