Get some relief during cold & flu season with these easy-to-make eucalyptus shower melts – they’re like bath bombs for the shower! Eucalyptus Shower Steamer MeltsEveryone knows about bath bombs, but what about something fun for those that don’t have a bath tub or don’t like baths? Enter shower melts (or shower steamers)! You just leave one of these little guys to melt in the bottom of the shower, preferably off to the side, in a corner! The hot water activates the oils in the shower melts and you get a nice, soothing aroma with the steam (that would be why they are also called shower steamers)! Shower Steamer Melts

How to Make Eucalyptus Shower Melts

What’s great is that these really aren’t too tough to make! Once you have the supplies, you can make a bunch of different batches and give shower melts out as gifts! (This recipe yields 1 dozen & some affiliate links are included)

DIY SHOWER MELT SUPPLIES:

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Pour the cornstarch into a mixing bowl and stir in the green soap colorant and stir (stir slowly to avoid the cornstarch from “dusting up”). The cornstarch will begin to get a bit crumbly.
  2. Add 2 Tablespoons of water and stir well.  Add another 1-2 TBSP water and stir again.  Pick up some of the eucalyptus mixture into your hand and squeeze. If the powder holds together more like a paste, then it is ready good to go.  If it doesn’t clump in your hand, continue to add water in 1 Tablespoon increments until it does (do not go past 6 Tablespoonfuls of water in total).
  3. Stir in the eucalyptus essential oil.
  4. Transfer the eucalyptus paste into your silicone molds, filling up to the top of each mold. Press in firmly.
  5. Freeze for 2 hours to allow to harden.

*Once frozen/hardened, transfer to an airtight container or sealed plastic baggie. You can also store the baggie in the freezer until ready to use. Aromatherapy Shower Melts

HOW TO USE SHOWER STEAMERS

Place one eucalyptus shower steamer melt on the corner floor of your shower – ideally out of the direct water stream. You want the hot water and steam to slowly activate the eucalyptus oils, giving off some soothing aromas that may help ease some congestion during cold & flu season!

*CAUTION: It’s important to check with your aromatherapist or doctor if you have any questions or concerns about using essential oils (especially with children or pregnant moms). Some essential oils (like eucalyptus and peppermint) can be especially strong. So be sure to check with your qualified health practitioner about any essential precautions or concerns.
