Bee-themed Teacher Valentine’s Gift

Teacher Valentine's Gift

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Big Brother’s Kindergarten class is “the bees”. So, we’ve gone with total bee-themed Valentine’s this year. First, we made bee valentines. Then, we made a bee Valentine’s mailbox. So, we decided his teacher definitely needed a bee-themed gift too! Teacher Valentine's GiftHow more perfect could a bottle of honey be for a bee-themed Valentine’s gift?! The inspiration came from this “bee mine” valentine on Make It Do. I loved the honey idea, but wanted a different wording for the card. And, I wanted the card to match with his bee class valentines. Honey bee valentine

The gift is SO easy to put together. Just a bottle of honey (I went with a bear just for the sake of cuteness), the printable teacher Valentine’s card, and some ribbon! Once I printed out the card, Big Brother wrote his message on the bag. Then, I punched a hole in the card and tied it around the honey. Super easy, but super cute! Now, here’s hoping that “Mrs. B” (yes, that is what the kids call her) likes honey! ;) Big Brother was so excited to bring it to her. I can’t wait for him to get home from school today to hear all about his Valentine’s Day festivities!

Super Easy Sparkly Pink Heart Rice Krispies Treats!

Looking for a super quick & easy Valentine’s treat? Making some sparkly pink heart rice krispie treats!

The boys usually enjoy making festive goodies. And, one day Big Brother said, “let’s make hearts Mom”. He meant heart treats and I couldn’t decide what to do. I didn’t feel like cookie baking. And, then I remembered we had a big box of Rice Krispies. So we made heart-shaped rice krispies treats. Super easy! We just followed the directions for making classic Rice Krispies treats. As we were stirring in the cereal to the melted marshmallow, we simple added pink decorator sugar crystals to make them pink! Some dissolved, casting a slight pink hue! Then, sprinkle a few crystals over the top and cut out with a cookie cutter. Super easy!
So, if you still need a fun treat for Valentine’s Day tomorrow, this are sure to be a hit! :)

Hershey’s Kisses Sweetest Memory — Giveaway! #HersheysKisses

Hershey's Kisses History

Tis the season for all things love, flowers, and chocolate! I bet many of you will be giving or receiving some (and probably eating some too ;) ) in the next few days! And, one particular little chocolate always seems perfect this time year… Hershey’s KISSES!  In fact, this Valentine’s Day, Hershey’s wants to know what your sweetest Hershey’s KISSES memory is!

One memory came to mind immediately, but it’s not “my” own. One of my friends in high school was asked to prom with a bucket of Hershey’s Kisses. One of the white “KISSES” tags was replaced with a “Will you go to prom with me?” tag instead! Super cute! But, my own sweetest Kisses memory is of my grandparents house. This past weekend, I spent time with my parents, uncle, and cousin, going through my Grandmas things as we prepared to move her into a memory care unit due to her Alzheimer’s. While the situation is so sad, it was really special going through her things and reminiscing about her & my grandpa (he died just before my high school graduation). When I was a kid, we spent a lot of time at their house, especially around the holidays. I remember there almost always being Hershey’s KISSES in special little glass dishes and candy jars. Special little treats at Grandma and Grandpa’s house. My favorites were once the almond ones came out! Mmmm!

Here’s a little history of those cute little KISSES: Hershey's Kisses History

Bee Valentine’s Mailbox

Bee Valentine's Mailbox

In keeping with the bee class valentines theme, Big Brother and I made a bee mailbox for his class valentines. I remember making my valentines mailboxes when I was young! Those creative projects were my favorite things (is it any surprise that I like blogging now?!)! So, I think I might have been more excited than he was to make one. But, once we decided on bees and I suggested making a bee mailbox, he was SO excited! Bee Valentine's MailboxI think it turned out great! Big Brother was quite pleased with it! He was so eager to take it to school this morning and carried it in so carefully. Super cute! :)

Creating the bee mailbox was really easy. We started with a square box (a bit larger than a standard square tissue box). But, you could use whatever size box you have around. Creating a Bee Valentine BoxI covered the box with yellow construction paper and then cut out black strips. Big Brother then glued on the black strips. While he did that, I cut a little half circle sort of shape for a head and we glued that on to the front. Big Brother then stuck on the googly eyes and used a “do-a-dot” marker for the “cheeks”. Using an X-Acto knife, I cut small slits just above the eyes & Big Brother slid in the “antennae”. For the wings, I drew a heart pattern for him to cut out. Then, we glued on the wings! Big Brother then decided his bee needed a stinger (of course!), so we cut that out of black and added a heart. Then, the antennae needed some hearts too! Since the box didn’t have a lid to open, I just cut a flap for the kids to drop things inside & for Big Brother to be able to access the contents! Creative Valentines MailboxThis mama of all boys is cherishing still being able to do a little more “cutesy” looking stuff before it’s all Star Wars, superheroes, and video games! ;) I think it turned out so cute and I’m glad he was so excited to show it off. class valentines mailbox

Bee Valentines {Free Printable}

Bee class Valentine's Cards

I’m so excited to share our bee valentines with you (along with the free downloadable printable) today! We spent some time this weekend working on Big Brother’s Valentine’s cards & Valentine’s mailbox for school this week! At his school, the Kindergarten classes each have a different animal theme and he just happens to be in the bee class! So, since he’s young and still into a bit more “cutesy” things, I thought it would be perfect to do a bee theme for his Valentine’s this year. But, just about everything I could find was something about “bee mine”. I personally don’t really like that phrase (even as an adult, let alone little kids), so I decided to just make our own! The inspiration came from the cute bee teacher gift we made for his first day of school.

Instead of “bee mine” or anything similar, we decided on a nice, but simple “It’s great to be your friend”. Bee Valentine_wmBig Brother loves them! He is SO excited about the bee theme and for that, I’m so excited! We (Mr. Mom Endeavors & I) decided to not add on any candy or anything. Just the simple friendly message! So, I’m hoping he’s not the only one and he doesn’t feel left out/no one makes fun of him. Fingers crossed! But, for now he’s excited and he did great addressing them to all of his friends! His handwriting has been improving so much! Bee class Valentine's CardsAfter I created the cards (bee clipart found here), I just printed them on some white cardstock and cut them out with a paper cutter! Super easy! I was able to get 4 cards on each paper, so for a typical elementary class size, most people will only need to print 6 or 7 sheets! Not too bad! If you’d like to use these cards, just download the file from the link below. For best results, print on card stock or matte photo paper with your printer set to highest quality.

Do you do any gifts for your kids (or grandkids) for Valentine’s Day? We usually get the boys a little something, including a sweet book! For both Big Brother’s and Little Brother’s first Valentine’s Day, we bought them copies (that we wrote in) of “I Love You Through and Through”. I absolutely adore this book and I think Baby Brother needs his own copy this year! It’s such a sweet book! Other years they’ve gotten “Guess How Much I Love You” and “Kiss Kiss”.  And I think this year “How Do Dinosaurs Say I Love You?” will be the Valentine’s book of choice! So, whether for a little Valentine’s gift or just some sweet books to add to your little ones’ book library, here are 10 great children’s books to say “I Love You” with! :)
