This Powerpuff Girls DIY Glitter Slime Party Favor idea is in partnership with Hulu. #PowerpuffOnHulu

Who else remembers The Powerpuff Girls?!  As one of Cartoon Network’s most enduring original series, the initial run of The Powerpuff Girls, created by Craig McCracken, premiered in 1998 and quickly became a global phenomenon. Since its premiere, the series earned two Emmy® Awards along with five nominations and countless animation honors throughout its 80 episodes.

For those not familiar, The Powerpuff Girls centers on three sugar-coated superheroes, Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup, whose missions in life alternate between going to school, fighting crime, winning at hopscotch and saving the world before bedtime. The girls are frequently called upon by the town’s mayor to help fight nearby criminals using their powers. While their differences cause them to squabble and tease, their individual strengths combined always lead them to victory. They rely on teamwork, trust, and friendship to thwart evil (in the most adorable way).

Now, almost 20 years later (just typing that makes me feel SO old – eek!), parents & kids alike should be thrilled to find full classic animated series The Powerpuff Girls on Hulu!

So fun! I mean, who doesn’t love “sugar, spice, and everything nice”?! I happen to love all the “girl power” in the show! The girls are fun, fierce, and brave. Though they work together to save the world before bedtime, each girl demonstrates her own examples of courage and humility. As the mom of boys, I like the idea of my boys seeing strong heroines (in addition to all the heroes they love emulating).

So, to celebrate Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup arriving on Hulu, we made some fun glitter slime inspired by each character! This would be fun to let the kids play with just while watching the show or would be a great Powerpuff Girls party favor!

Doesn’t that look fun?! You just need a few ingredients/materials to make this fun little “craft”. For the slime, we went with the classic science-y recipe of glue, water, and Borax. Here’s the “recipe”

  • Glitter glue (1 bottle per color – red, green, and blue)
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tsp Borax

Here’s what you’ll do for each color:

(*note–for added safety and caution, it may be best just having adults only actually make the slime. Then, letting the kids handle it after that).

  1. Pour the entire bottle of glue out into a medium bowl.
  2. In a measuring glass, dissolve 1 tsp of Borax in 1 Cup of water.
  3. Pour the Borax water into the glue. Stir until the glue seems thicker and has clumped together (the longer you leave the glue in the water, the firmer the slime will be).

You’ll repeat that process with each color! Then, if you’d like to use it as a party favor (or just keep it in cute containers), you can place the slime in baby food jars (or similar). The amount I got for each color is basically enough for 2 baby food jars full. To make these cute & work as party favors though, you gotta spruce up the containers! So I have a cute printable for you with the characters that you can choose from. You can attach them to the lid like I did, or even cut them out and glue them on the front of the jars – whatever you like!

Once you’ve got the sheet downloaded and printed, you can cut out what you like to glue to your jars! To spruce things up even more, you can add a little ribbon to the outside rim of the jar lid. Easy peasy and the end result is so fun! Not only does it look cute, but it’s fun to play with! A win-win!

So, make some fun slime and then get ready to watch Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup on Hulu. Hulu is THE streaming destination for the best of TV, and a great selection of films! Plus, you can stream almost anywhere, on any device, including gaming consoles, set-top boxes, tablets, mobile phones, and more. Visit Hulu.com to start your free trial.
