Beaches Turks & Caicos Family VacationWe just returned from Beaches Turks & Caicos – our first international trip with the kids (young kids at that – ages 7, 4, and just over 2). It was such an idyllic tropical beach vacation. After experiencing it as a family, it comes as no surprise to me that Beaches Resort Turks & Caicos regularly sits atop lists for the Top Family Resorts in the Caribbean. Here are 10 reasons to consider it for your next family vacation:

Grace Bay Beach Turks & Caicos1. Breathtaking Grace Bay Beach

Ok, so technically the beach is not unique to Beaches (as you could take in these amazing views from a number of resorts in Turks & Caicos). But, Beaches is set on a chunk of this absolutely stunning 12-mile beach – so stunning in fact that it regularly sits on or atop list of the top beaches in the world. Truly, the pictures don’t fully capture it. The beautiful turquoise water is the perfect temperature and the white sand is powder-soft. It’s quintessential paradise in every sense of the term.Beaches Turks & Caicos BeachWe never had any trouble finding chairs (and even the covered canopies) on the beach. And, right after coming in off the beautiful beach, there are a number of shower stations to rinse off the sand before heading back to the room. So, those amenities made it even nicer! The boys loved it and were content spending hours splashing in the waves and playing in the soft sand. Beaches Resort Beach

2. The Accommodations

The resort is made up of four distinct villages- each with it’s own style. Our room was in the Key West Village (the newest of the four villages) and the accommodations were absolutely luxurious. We had the pleasure of a stay in a Two Story, Two Bedroom Concierge Suite with our own balcony that overlooked the property (including a glimpse of the ocean). Key West Village BeachesThe suite features beautiful king-sized beds in both bedrooms, two bathrooms (a shower in one and HUGE bath in the other), large closets, spiral staircase to the balcony, a full-sized kitchen (that included a refrigerator fully stocked with bottled water, beer, wine, juices, soda, and milk), washer/dryer (complete with laundry detergent), dining room, and living room with a trundle daybed. Additionally, there were flat screen tvs in each room and an XBOX 360 in the living room – and starting in December 2014, wifi will be included in all rooms/suites as well! Beaches Key West SuiteWe were so impressed to see that not only did they have a crib ready for the little one, but they put removable bed rails in the kids’ room (see the lower left photo above)! Details like this make a huge difference when traveling, especially so when you are traveling with children. The whole suite was incredibly spacious and the beds were SO comfortable. We didn’t want to leave!

We also lucked out that our room was right next to the Key West West Village Pool. With more than 6 pools on property though (plus additional whirlpools), you’re never too far from an awesome pool! Beaches Key West Pool

3. Kids Camps

When traveling with kids, activities that cater to children are especially important. You’ll find NO shortage of quality facilities and activities for ALL ages of children at Beaches Turks & Caicos. Beaches is actually one of the very few places (whether resort, cruise, or anything) that caters to newborns all the way through teenagers. Camp Sesame BeachesCertified nannies are there to take care of the little ones. The space is very clean; there was a good child to staff ratio; and I felt quite safe leaving our little guy there (something I was very skeptical about heading into the trip). In addition to regular security, you have to give a unique password as one last check to take the child out. With all the toys and even an Elmo character visit, Baby Brother (age 2) didn’t even want to leave the day when we picked him up! Beaches Resorts ChildcareThere’s no shortage of activities for the older kids either – fun places & activities like the Xbox Lounge, game rooms, treasure hunts, puppet shows, magic shows, pizza making are all included as part of the preschool, pre-teen, and teen programs! So, if you’re looking for some “adults-only” time during your stay, that is absolutely possible and included – as there is NO extra cost for the kids camps during regular hours. If you’d like a late night out, for an additional charge, you can even hire a nanny for your room! Kids Camp Beaches

4. Sesame Street

Beaches is celebrating a 10 year long partnership with Sesame Street®. For younger kids, it’s a great source of comfort and added fun to see some familiar faces around the resort! And, if they’re used to watching Sesame Street®, they have probably seen the Beaches Resorts commercials on PBS which helps get them ready for the trip! Sesame Street at BeachesBetween various parades, stage shows, and activities, there is the ability to see your favorite characters daily (already included in your fees). And, for an additional charge, there are fun options like character breakfasts, meet ‘n greets, and special bedtime story time! Additionally, themed things can be spotted around the resort. Many restaurants offered Sesame Street® coloring pages for the kids. At Mario’s Restaurant in the Italian Village, we found a whole kids area complete with a number of character statues! The boys LOVED this! Sesame Street Fun at Beaches

5. The Included Activities

There really is virtually unlimited entertainment & activities that are ALL INCLUDED! Want to snorkel? No problem! Scuba dive? Yep, it’s included (if you’re already certified. If not, you can learn there for a rather inexpensive fee). Sailing, paddle boarding, or kayaking?! Yep, that too! Let’s not forget the 45,000 square foot Pirates Island Waterpark, complete with pool, multiple slides, a lazy river, and surf simulator! And, there’s a plethora of pools around the resort! Land-lovers can enjoy shuffleboard, tennis, lawn chess, basketball, pool tables, and even an XBOX 360 lounge! There’s even an activities desk where you can check out things like board games! Watersports at BeachesWe took advantage of everything pictured above. At 7, Big Brother got to go snorkeling for the 1st time. And, we took Little Brother (4) out for his first time too, but he was rather unsure about the whole thing and didn’t like the mask. But, since it’s included, we got to try it without any risk. Baby Brother even got to join us on the boat. All the gear is included too! We also went Hobie Cat sailing, enjoyed the waterpark, played lawn chess, played shuffleboard, enjoyed numerous pools, and stopped by the XBOX lounge a few different nights! There really is something for everyone…and it’s ALL included!

6. Unlimited Food & Drinks

With about 20 different restaurant options on property, there is no shortage of items to choose from. Here, you’re free to eat whenever you want and whatever you choose! All your food & drinks are included! You can find seafood, sushi, Italian, burgers, Caribbean food, pizza, finer-dining, kid options, buffets, and more – it’s all there. Beaches FoodIf you’re a hard-core foodie or expecting 5-star dining everywhere you go, then you might be disappointed in some of the food. But, it was fine for us. We really enjoyed a number of our meals! Our favorite restaurants for the views & atmosphere were Bayside, Neptunes, and Barefoot by the Sea. We loved the kids dining area at Mario’s – ask for that specifically if you have small kids! Our favorite breakfast buffet was Reflections. And, our favorite overall meal was Kimonos! The food was great as was the entertainment. Bella Napoli pizza was delicious – and you could grab it to go for a beach or pool picnic! For the kids, Bobby Dee’s can’t be beat! We visited daily for snacks, drinks, lunch, or late night ice cream treats! 😉  After all, eating in a “pirate ship” is pretty cool! Bobby Dee's at Beaches

7. The Service

I can’t say enough about the wonderful staff at Beaches Turks & Caicos and it starts from the top down. We had the pleasure of meeting the Stewart family (founders & owners of Sandals & Beaches). I was SO impressed with both the Chairman & CEO who were there vacationing with their family & friends! They pride themselves on having fabulous service – and they do. Basically the entire staff is so incredibly attentive, helpful & friendly. The only “no” you’re going to hear is “no problem”. There’s even pool & beach drink service included! Hello, awesome!!! Beach drink service

8. Perfect for Multigenerational Travel

So many families are choosing to travel as multigenerational family groups, especially for big events like celebrating 40 & 50th wedding anniversaries together, retirements, destination weddings, graduations, etc. Having  done some multigenerational travel,  I can say with certainty that Beaches Turks & Caicos is perfect for that! With so many things to do, there really is something to please every age and every activity level. During our time there, we saw many multigenerational family groups (including the Stewart family). So, it definitely is a popular choice!

9. The Ease

Let’s face it, traveling with kids (young kids especially) can be a bit stressful – traveling out of the country even more so. But, a trip to Beaches Turks & Caicos takes ALL the stress out. Unless you want a stroller for the airport (which we did because of a LONG layover), you don’t need one – you can use strollers there. Beaches provides transportation (again, included in your cost) to & from the airport so there is no need to stress about bringing car seats or dealing with rental cars. If little legs are tired, then you can hitch a ride around the resort on a golf cart (or even an adorable little train there). When you’re finished eating, you can just get up & go. You don’t need to carry your wallet & stress about having a bunch of cash, because everything’s already paid for. And, with the incredible service on property, everything is just SO easy! Beaches Resort TC

10. It’s ALL paid for upfront!

Let’s face it, a Beaches vacation is not cheap. But, the price really is quite comparable to cruising (and may be even less expensive when you consider extra costs with cruises).  And, the HUGE bonus here is that the WHOLE trip is paid for upfront. There are NO hidden or unexpected charges (not even gratuities). If you want to make this your next family vacation, you can budget and pay for the whole thing before you go. Then, you truly could leave the property with a $0 balance if you choose. In fact, we NEVER carried our wallet or cash with us our entire time on property. And, it was SUCH an amazing feeling!
We tend to look for ways to cut costs and save money…we don’t order a lot of specialty alcoholic drinks just because of the cost; we often split meals when we’re on vacation to save money; we pick and choose activities carefully as costs for a family of 5 add up quickly. And, with a “normal” vacation, it’s often hard to budget & plan for those “extra charges” (the tips, the resort fees, the food & drink prices, etc). But at Beaches, we didn’t have to do any of that. At Beaches, you can say, “YES!” without worrying about the cost of everything since it’s already paid for! Kids want ice cream? No problem! Want to go to the waterpark today? Yes! Want to go sailing and then take a snorkeling trip right after? Sure!! Want a second piña colada or margarita? Let’s do it!
So while this sort of trip is by no means inexpensive, there is something to be said about just paying for it all upfront and then worrying about NOTHING while you’re there. We’ve never had such a truly carefree vacation before and it was SO nice!!! Turks & CaicosSo, if you’re looking for a fun & relaxing vacation to a tropical/beach destination where all members of your family will be entertained, where the service is top-notch, and where the accommodations are fabulous, then Beaches Turks & Caicos is a GREAT choice! This was our first trip to Beaches (and first all-inclusive experience) and it certainly will NOT be our last! We can’t wait until we can go back!

  1. Any tips on how to book the best rates for this place? Sounds like a fantastic resort! I’ve got children the same age as yours, plus a 10 month old, this seems like a great idea for next Fall.

    1. Hi Edward! It was awesome! As far as I know, the best place to get deals are on the Beaches website (last I checked they were running a 60% off special) or to book with a certified Sandals/Beaches Travel Agent! Hope that helps!

  2. Hey Sara,

Great post (and nice pics) – I’m fortunate enough to live here on the island, and love booking this resort – my two island boys love going to the resort too for the day (our version of Disneyworld) – they can literally spend all day at the water theme parks going up and down those slides (they try to keep up with me) – thanks for visiting the island and be sure to come on back!

    Regards from Turks & Caicos
    Val

    1. Awesome, Val! Thanks for commenting! We LOVED the island and definitely plan on coming back!! 🙂

  3. Hi, Sara! GREAT post! I am sharing it now on my travel agent FB page. It looks like you and an amazing time! We should talk-I’d love to bring you on as an affiliate for my travel agent business! Our blogs look like they’d play nice together!

  4. Wow!! Your pictures throughout the trip were amazing! I loved watching along.

This looks like an amazing place for families with kids, and I love the idea of some time alone when the kids check into the kid club!

  5. Oh my goodness–those photos of the beach are incredible! That place looks awesome and how sweet they had the crib and bed rails all ready for you! This looks like my dream vacation!

  6. I read somewhere that you need to book Kimono’s immediately upon arrival because they book up so quickly. Is this true? Is there anywhere else like that or can you just walk up to any restaurant when you are ready to eat and get seated? Did you find there were wait for meals?

Thanks so much for all the info!

    1. Hi Mandy,
I’m not 100% sure. I think Kimono’s really should have reservations and probably definitely true in high season. With that said, we didn’t realize that and we were staying at lower season time of year. So, we walked up and they took pity on us (since we had 3 little kids & didn’t realize the reservations thing). There is no other restaurant like Kimono’s on property but there are LOTS of other restaurants!! And again, not sure during busy season, but we never had a wait at any place we tried to eat!

      Hope that helps!
